Most Esteemed DetVets;

I'm curious about the new detnet site.  As far as I understood, around 26 Feb., the esteemed Mssrs.
Wiley
Anztac
and DSL
were poised to create a new site, with logo already done, just beautiful work,
...

and then nothing happened.
not at all.

I've not personally heard from any of these cool people --

They're still around, though.

So what happened?  I mean, a lot of great avatars dropped out, know that...

Fill me in on the dirt.
 Please.

Actually for quite some time I've had access to a new front page that only needed the content itself added, and it was done for free by a friend.

They said I could only use it if I made it permanent.

I was and still am convinced that a new site made by collaborators with constant evolution, false starts, and occasional brilliant insight would be more entertaining,

more informative,

cooler.

double post, w00t.

No one wants to take blame.

I admit it, it's all my fault. I haven't quite figured out how it's my fault, but it is my fault... somehow.

c'est la vie ... shit happens, guano hits the fan, etc.

Could be work got busy, could be a move, could be spring break and those lucky bastards are hamming it with some hottie in Cancun.

I'm as confused as you are editor.  Ask DSL, as far as I know I'm working under him.

/me narrowly avoids bullet.

Since I'm not the leader of this little project I decided to sit back until I was given orders.  ::Shrug:: None yet.

My e-mail's anztac@octlet.net in case you don't know damien.

(Heh, perhaps this was a cop-out, I don't know, but I haven't known what to do.)

ed, seriously.

don't rely on others. cr0bar made things happen, didn't sit on his ass posting drivel all the time waiting for someone to offer to do something.

we were fans of this site, for what it was - you shouldn't expect the fans to rebuild it.

Did you have a plan of what to do with this site once you bought it? if so, go back, evaluate the plan, and continue.

or did you just buy this site just because it looked cool and lots of people used to go to it?
i hope not.

just a thought.

thanx Neophyre!
constructive criticism!
When I got detnet I was just interested in saving it from disappearing.  There are several impressive people who drew up designs for a new site and I am willing to host one of them..

I'd like the story to continue from there.  I'd like a place where people can show off and have fun!

[in a loud whisper similar to Field of Dreams]if you build it, they will come[/loud whisper]

True that.

I don't know what the plan is  ...or if there is a plan.  What we need is a project document that outlines what needs to be done, who's doing it, and when the last change to the plan was made.  This will stop the rampant breakdown of communication that is going on.  The project outline should include specs of the server, software we have / need to have, location of shared artwork files, location of templates or forms for the people who want to write content, and contact info.  I'm kinda in the same boat as Anztac  ...tell me what to do.  Do you want me to draw up a preliminary project doc and post it somewhere everybody can map to it?

YES!

Let's put the doc on the front page we have now, with the "news" button? I think DSL already knows the server specs!

Your new place looks great!  How's the visitor parking?  How far to the 7-11?
