hey folks, if your into counter-strike, i have bad news. in the new update, 1.4, they are bringing back all the things we didnt like from the betas back to now.  The ultra accurate mp5,the no blackout AWP, and its one shot kill again. this is all i have heard. just thought you should know

?? What the hell are you talking about..

They're implementing HLTV style observation modes and slowdowns on-jump, so I heard.
They're adding a new de_chateau map, and.. that should be it.
I also heard they're making the M249 more accurate.

And adding the Condition Zero weapons, including the riot shield... last I read, anyway.

There's nothing short of free pron movies that would bring me back to regular CS playing. its just not fun anymore. and before you venture the idea, no, I don't suck.

Where do I go to find out this sort of information on the development of new CS versions?  I'm sort of just curious about changes.

Half of the info is just rumors from the beta testers.

In case you missed it:
Valve allowed public beta testing, which in my opinion, is just plain stupid. So, they got what they were asking for, info leaks.

condition zero is gonna suck ass.  RPGs have no place in CS, even if they're only single use.

anyway, i would like to see more weapon accuracy.
I mean, come on....  you're gonna bitch about giving the mp5 its old accuracy, but don't complain about the accurate-at-5-billion-light-years deagle?  Its a fucking handgun for christ's sake, you can't get that kind of accuracy with such a short muzzle.
Anyway, i doubt i could fire sustained bursts with any of these weapons with any degree of accuracy, but then again, im not a Navy Seal, or GSG3, or SAS, etc..  The characters we're playing are trained profesionals.  They would have better weapon control than we do.  They know how to compensate for recoil.

They didn't decrease accuracy to make the game more realistic.... they did it to give newbs a higer survivability, wich will make first time players more likely to continue playing.  THEY DID IT TO MAKE THE GAME MOER POPULAR!!!!!

one shot kills with the awp sucks ass if you're on the receiving end, but its more realistic.  they should also give the deagle back its original power.  Kevlar won't help you if your hit with a .50 shell.  even if it doesn't penetrate the flack jacket, you're gonna have broken ribs and massive internal injuries.

I think that was always my main complaint with CS.  The tweaking keeps happening to make the game more survivable, more realistic, more unrealistic, more balanced, etc.  If it's meant to be a realistic simulator, then balance doesn't come into it.  An mp5 is a pretty damn accurate weapon, and it's nice and heavy for 9mm rounds, so you don't get the muzzle climb and recoil as bad.  That's the point of the weapon.  They designed it to be a superior weapon in close combat situations.  In CS, you might as well take a handgun with you into combat than that thing.  You have to unload 15 rounds into somebody before they'll feel it.

And, I totally agree that a trained member of these groups would know how to use the weapon effectively... it angers me when my character can't hit shit with his weapon.  I wonder how he even got into the force.  I'm all for instant death weapons, accurate weapons, etc.  I mean, why should a person be inches from death, but still able to bunny-hop across a map and fire an automatic weapon with accuracy?  I guess, overall, realism has been thrown out the window.  Just need to wait until Action HL finally comes out :(

Well CS was supposed to be balancing out realism and fun in the same game.. they're gonna do the exact opposite with the weapon accuracy modifications in the next CS release.

But we'll adapt.. somehow.

withstupid.gif Or you could just play Day of Defeat beta2, which has successfully balanced realism and fun gameplay.

I think any game developer knows that you have to find a balance between gameplay and realism.... Sometimes you have to sacrifice some realism to make the game fun.

Beta1.0, wich had 100% weapon accuracy, frequent 1 shot non-headshot kills with guns other than the AWP, and 1 skin each for T and CT (wich both looked almost the same), was still FUN!  The original Counter-Strike was an overglorified Jailbreak mod rip-off, with hostages and new guns.
The game is fun regardless of all the shit they do or don't do to "balance" it.  My concern is realism.  Why compromise realism for gamelpay value when the results are negligible?

Cannibal's history of CS in stream-of-conciousness mode:

...None of this pussy, integrated menu system... you actually had to know the ammo you wanted to use. fun because you can buy .338 lapua, 9mm, and an mp5, go out, pick up an AWP on the ground, and have ammo for it... a bind to check how much money you have (incomplete hud).

3 pistols, no knife. gun running (weapons stayed put for 2-3 rounds). cs_mansion for CQB (cs_estate can't come close...). suppressed, scoped colt m4.

super kevelar helmets. plant the bomb anywhere. a decent G3-SG1 (Accurate, can ya believe!?!;)). mp5 whoring, colt whoring. AWP bunnyhopping.

vgui menus (I still use the text ones, :)). speedhack. cheaters. aimbot. wallhack. ogc. (the assholes) scouting is honorable.

DOD. fun. what's counter-strike again? oh, ri, that game where ppl cheat too much...

With CSG, and Jedi's antiOGC plugin for adminmod, Cheating-Death, CounterStrike is practically cheat proof. I think the worst community I've seen filled with cheaters was Diablo 1, after Bobafett started releasing his D1 trainers.

yeah, DoD really puts CS to shame. It shows that you don't have to ruthlessly slaughter realism in the name of gameplay.
