Some of us need to get a life. I realized today that one of the biggest reasons I don't have one now is that I spend too much time online. I shall still be on AIM and ICQ so if you have anything you want to say, you can hit me up for it there, or email me. However, I reserve the right to block and delete if it isn't worth my while.Detnet has died. The new version will be up shortly. Meanwhile, something has been growing more and more clear to me... My interest in detnet is dying. I figure if I take a general leave of absence from Detnet and all my other favorite haunts that have started to be more haunting than favorable, then I'll have more time to do the things I should, such as school work, job searching, and building a social life. I've spent too much time online and I believe that I have to draw a line somewhere. That somewhere is here. I still may post from time to time, and don't be surprised if I come back in full force if and when the new detnet is up, but for now I am out of here. Props to all the old school detneters, too many to list, and i'd forget some of you, so thanks to you all. And all ya newbies, watch and learn before you jump in. It helps if you want to avoid being pegged as a newbie. Editor, I have three suggestions for you. One, keep your posting down to less than 5 posts a day. When cr0 was here, he made his presence felt in other ways, and in close to two years only made about 600-700 posts. You've gotten close to that amount in just 2 months. We already have a CatKnight. Two, (and this is related) let the forums develop on their own, don't try to force things, or throw your weight around. There's plenty of people here who've been detnetters far longer than you have, respect them as such. Even if you did buy the site, you didn't buy the community, merely gave it a transfusion, and put it on respirators. Three, (and this is related too) value what the detvets say. This doesn't mean post "me too" or "I agree" type posts all the time, merely afford it the consideration and respect it deserves. You're in good hands with DSL and Anztac, and from what I can tell, Wiley too, even though he's still somewhat of a newbie by my book. That is all. Posted by Wolfguard on Feb. 19 2002,13:02
