Due to recent circumstance which some of you may remeber, a close friend of mine got into trouble with the law for illegal information on his computer. Due to recent events in his case (His probation officer and his counseler reccomending it), he will be banned from computers and the internet for no less than 6 months. In order to keep his system intact for that time, he has handed over ownership of it to ME! He just built this system, AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 512 MB DDR RAM, Radeon 7500, 24x burner, etc. Bad for him, but damn good for me. Soon I shall build my network from which I will inherit the power to overthrow the world! Mwahahahaha.Erm, yes, anyway.... Whatcha think? Posted by Wiley on Feb. 16 2002,16:48
Does your friend have any legal issues with his car?

Wow now that's a computer that will last you... uhm.. 6 whole months! Before the advancements render it as a piece of junk.

Well the thing of it is, my house is basically the local hangout spot for all my friends. Most of my friends are of the geeky/outcast kind, and play lots of computer games. Before, I had a problem with limiting computer useage, but now with 5 computers in the house (4 after monday), I don't have a problem. Everyone gets to play, everyone stays happy. Now, back to my UT game....edit: Die Typo Demon, Die! Posted by askheaves on Feb. 16 2002,18:49
I'm rusty, but was that portrman? I remember somebody giving a farewell message a while ago for getting in trouble with computers. Just looking for a refresh on the mind here.

If the Feds came to take my computers away I would chain myself to the b0x3n and say "hell no you scumbags aint taking away my pr0n and l33t w4r3z ...go find your own you piggy doghnut muchin a-holes!!" And then I'm pretty sure the pain would come ...much pain. But they would never get the computers ...never I say!! Unless they had guns.

I've made a formal request to be buried with my harddrives. I'm saving up for one of those ultimate security safes for them to go in.

Talk about a whuss-rig.*unzips* Suck this one down. CPU - AMD Athlon XP 1800+ MBD - ABIT KR7A-RAID RAM - 2048MB Mushkin PC2100 DDR HDD - 2x Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM CD1 - Samsung 12X DVD CD2 - Pioneer DVR-A03 CD3 - Mitsumi CR-4804TE VID - VisionTek XTasy geForce4 Ti4400 I know, the CPU could use a little work, and still no SCSI RAID. But it's sure a step up from my old 1.2 system. (Yes, one of the Maxtors and the Mitsumi are from that b0x0r. But that's it.) Stomper Posted by Rhydant on Feb. 17 2002,08:00

Heh ... actually, aside from having the best performance, the KR7A is one of the few boards to support 4 DDR DIMMs. And yes - that is a gF4 Ti4400. Being a system builder kicks ass, 'cuz I get to play with all the new shit first. Oh yes - the Radeon 8500 is dead in about 5 weeks. Just so you know. The geForce4 Ti4200 is the same price ($200) and absolutely butchers the poor thing. And yes. I do agree - this system is totally excessive and unneccessary. But there's nothing I can't do with it. Funny. The only thing from that system that I really want (aside from more drivespace) is that set of speakers. I'm seriously debating doing a major overhaul of my system if I get a paycheck. That's on the potential list. $400 for speakers, though... I don't know. I want to swap out my board for an ASUS i845 DDR board, get some DDR mem, and an ASUS GeForce4 4600 card possibly adding those speakers. That should only cost a grand or so... not looking as significant to the 9 grand they owe me. Edit: Forgot that I also want the Creative Audigy Platinum Ex equipment. Now, that's a wishlist. |
