So, I work in a computer shop in Missouri. In a small town in Missouri. Can you see where I am heading with this? Originally I am from Illinois; I've lived in So. Illinois pretty much all my life. I have a theory, and it goes something like this: "All the really weird, unstable people live *out there*." Well, I live *out there* now. Take, for instance, one of the crazy people. A couple of weeks ago, this guy came into the store and started talking to the secretary. And talking. And talking. I go out to help (because I can tell that he is begging to scare her). He proceedes to tell me the story of his life. And it ends with another computer store in a nearby city that he thinks screwed him over. He said, and I quote: "If they make me mad, I'll run my truck through their front door. I'll do it too, I crazy. They won't even let me carry a gun. I spent some time in the mental institution...". Well, he finally leaves. Guess who showed up last friday? Yep, he came back. His computer was in total shambles. He kept blaming it on the computer store saying that they were making his computer break down so he would have to go back and pay them to fix it. Long story short: Guy leaves his computer. We try to fix it. The mobo has seen better days (he said his house had a brown out--and his computer wouldn't boot up after the power had come back on), and it seems that it is having problems with addressing memory (el cheapo mobo). We finally get the thing to function (barely), and the guy seems happy....for the moment. Until we tell him that the second hard drive he brought in was bad (about a 1/20 of the way through it had over 22 disk errors..). He gets pissed. Luckily I am able to divert his attention so I don't have to beat the guy down (if I could. I'm pretty big and this guy frightened me a bit.). And this guy isn't the exception. Several of our customers have had...violent...tendencies. Is it just Missouri, or does this happen elsewhere? Del7a Posted by veistran on Feb. 14 2002,06:38
It happens elsewhere. The roads here in Lawrence, Kansas are to put it bluntly pretty goddamn retarded. The main East-West road in town 23rd St is chocked with traffic most of the time because the dumb bastards won't build a bypass for K-10. Now back to the retarded 23rd St. I have to drive up and down it daily on my way to school and right before it croses over the main North-South street there's this really busy strip mall. The strip mall happens to have this stupid thing that lets people turn through the divider. Now because 23rd St. is choked with traffic it's hard to tell when it going to stop and one day I happened to get stuck right in front of this thing. So this retarded fuck decides that even though I'm stuck in front of the thing and the traffic isn't moving anywhere anytime soon, he's gonna pull out and block the other lane of traffic to turn left stop his truck, get out and bitch at me "I need to go through there, you need to move so I can go through there." etc... as if I can magically make the traffic move or my car disappear. The guy starts tapping on my windows and yelling louder telling me to move it so he can get through. Finally the traffic starts moving again and I get out of this guy's way and his dumb ass standing outside of his truck almost gets run over, and he doesn't make it through the crossover thing before the traffic stops again because he couldn't get in his truck fast enough... I can only guess where it went from there. This pisser is, that's not the first time I've seen this happen, different people though, same situation. Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Feb. 14 2002,14:10
you think thats bad where i'm at at the moment is mental institution cpaital. 50% populaion are underage mothers 50% total wackos.for instance the other day i saw an old lady walking along the road picking up litter and putting it in her bag including things like hubcaps! she didnt look homeless or anythign! other frequent things is people threating to literally beat up their kids in the store or hurling abuse at them to the point where me and my mate were gettig ready to take this guy out for child abuse. oh yeah and the petrol station got held up by shotgun. average day really Posted by Nikita on Feb. 14 2002,17:12

Someone came into my work yesterday thinking that this was the DMV office. So, we told the lady that this was not the DMV, the DMV is down the block a couple of doors, and that we can't renew her driver's license. She screamed and ranted for 15 minutes about how we were all jerks and she was going to call her senatecritter because the DMV was mean to her. She actually called me an idiot and asked why I couldn't realize that I work for the DMV. So finally I told her we'd be happy to take her picture, but we were going to revoke her driver's license for being a moron. She left. Posted by Del7a on Feb. 15 2002,00:24

Back when I used to work in a photolab, we'd have people come in and complain about how we ruined their pictures. One of these guys claimed that we'd "tampered with his film" because there was "no large blotch" in any of the pictures he took. It took 10 minutes and my manager for us to make it clear to him that the blotch was his finger.
