Well, as I submitted my last, wonderful post dealing with T3 (http://www.kmov.com/entertainment/Ent_stories/ent_020213_t3.html) wasn't sent through right when I experienced a computer crash, I'll talk about something else..

Transformers!

Yes, Dreamwave Productions is going to be putting out a new TF comic in April of this year!  Dreamwave (http://www.dreamwaveprod.com) got the deal after Bench Press Comics supposedly had it.  If you are a TF fan like myself, you shoould really check these guys out.  They are doing G1 chars, and they do them well.

Here is some promotional work:
< http://www.xsorbit.com/users2/dreamwave/Attachment/AutobotsCover.jpg >  <--The only thing I don't like is the yellow eyes.  They said that will be corrected in the final.
< http://www.xsorbit.com/users2/dreamwave/Attachment/IncentiveCover.jpg > *Starts to play "Duel of the Fates*
< http://www.xsorbit.com/users2/dreamwave/Attachment/MegatronPoster.jpg > Good 'ole Megs!
< http://www.xsorbit.com/users2/dreamwave/Attachment/OptimusPoster.jpg > No comment needed!

On top of that, there is going to be a new CGI shows of TF called Armada.  This is supposed to follow the comics, and will also showcase the G1 cast.

I'm so happy :)

Transformers r0x0rs.  I had like all those things when I was a kid.  Shockwave was the best because you could get the little Transformer tapes to put in him   ...Rumble the little robot dude and the panther and the bird.  Damn those things kicked ass until kids started choking on all the little parts.  WTF!? We can loose a few kids, it's called evolution  ...deal with it  ...little toy pieces forever!!

I'm sure Megatron turning into a gun was a big hit with all those hippie parents too.

Eh, that was the early 80s.  It was still okay for cartoons to have guns.  Nowerdays chars blow up, get boiled, melt, etc...but they better not have a gun because that will warp children's minds.

Riiiiiight.

Anybody happen to know what model of pistol Megatron transformed into?  Just sort of curious.

I think my fascination with guns started with the Megatron toy.  I remember seeing it on the shelf and wanting it so bad.  That's also when I learned the difference between 26 cents and 26 dollars.  I told my mom that I could buy it because I had enough, and she explained to me that I didn't have enough to buy it.  I think it was a cop out since my mom still isn't a huge fan of handguns... or that I own a couple now.  She hated when I went to play paintball.  Didn't like simulated life-taking, I guess.

Transformers always bothered me with one aspect:  that of conservation of mass.  How the hell did Soundwave turn into this little ass tape recorder that would escape the eye, yet turn into the biggest damn Decepticon (aside from that train/shuttle thingy) of them all.  And when a tape player, he could eject tapes that transformed into robots bigger than a human!  Ack!  Even when I was 8, that bothered the shit out of me.

edit: Moron forgot that it's Soundwave, not Shockwave.

Hehe...that is the great Decepitcon mystery.  I read (a looooong time ago) that when a decepticon transforms they can compact their mass.  Or something like that.

My fav Decepticon had to have been Shockwave.  You never saw him much, and he was about the only guy that could kick Meg's butt at will.

My parents encouraged me to handle guns...but growing up in Rural Illinois, it kinda was a requirement.  My dad was in Nam, so he had a nice collection of weaponry that I learned to handle as a kid.

hrmmm... I think my little brother knows, he reads those toy magazines... sux for him cause I got to play with all those cool toys (transformers, G.I. Joes, etc) and he didn't ... although he really enjoyed playing with the G.I. Joes that survived me.

edit: upon consultation, it's a Walther P-38 that the original Megatron was modeled after.

i think it is quite interesting to hear about gun control and others' thoughts and this and that when trap shooting with my friends is a normal weekend occurance. guns are fun, plain and simple.

I must say...the nostalgia involved with Transformers strikes me with much excitement at this announcement.  Thanks to you Del7a for informing me ;)

It's funny when they say that a gun isn't a toy.  I have to supress a giggle because they are just that... fun.  And all I keep thinking is "Toy toy toy toy toy toy BANG! Schwoops"

Wow, a Walther, eh?  Interesting.

And I wish that they'd do more episodes like the movie.  I want to see consequences of people getting shot with laser blasters.  Dude, the ambulance dude died!!!  That makes sense.  I wondered why they bothered carrying weapons.  You'd think that a large version M16 would be more effective.  And what happened to the energy mace and axe?  Those ruled!

Yeah, it looks reasonably like a gun too... that is to say, selling it in the US today would probably be illegal.  ???

Remember when G.I. Joe's started comign with the totally un-realistic guns? Man did that suck ass. Oh well, let them ruin everyone's childhood by denying them cool toys. At least I got to have my mind horribly twisted by exposure to so many realisticly shaped/colored gun toys.

I find it funny that we have been trying to get away from toy guns.

That and the more we keep toy guns away from kids the more school shootings we have.

I'm still somewhat proud of the fact that I was there when heaves got his pistol-cherry  popped.

I think that's the best time I ever had at a gun show.

As for my Transformers, sadly, they all warred with each other till they turned to dust. I had too much fun with those.

Dark Knight Bob: The "Dare to be Stupid" song is a Werid Al Original.  And I would like to point out that you singled that song from all the other really bad 80s metal songs :)

I, for one, am up for gun control.  I think everyone should know how to control a gun!  When you learn to handle a gun, take one apart and re-assemble it, and care for it, you have respect for it.  What I think is happening is that guns are becomming tabu in today's society.  They want to sweep it under the rug--they think if you don't talk about it, the kids won't know.  That is horribly, horribly wrong.

/me waits until April.  I hope it isn't just one big April 1st stunt!

Sounds like most of my G.I. Joes.
