OK, for the last 6 months I have been driving 60 miles each way on the 405 freeway (in really bad SoCal traffic) to get from home to work. And now, after much begging, my gf has gotten a job a block away from my job and now we can move on up to east side ...to a deluxe apartment in the sky-y-y.I will no longer spend 3 1/2 hours in my car every day and life is now good. Anybody else with hellish commute stories? Posted by Nikita on Feb. 11 2002,22:58
you're so whipped.

Hang on, I don't have a well paying job... Or a car... or an apartment of my own... I have no right to piss take so Congrats Wiley I hope you like your new place. Posted by Uberkommando on Feb. 12 2002,03:19
Wiley, I hate you with a passion you can only dream of. I have no job, nor a car of my own, my girlfriend lives in Germany, and I'm stuck in the middle of Oklahoma. Even the natives hate it here.

Go commando on their ass!

err, um, Mr Uber, you can move. What Wiley didn't tell you is that the 405 fwy is legendary here for just not moving; it serves the entire west side, going past LAX, down the coast through Orange County, which to LA is what New Jersey is to NYC. That commute is hell. Nikita, go to Wiley's site and see why he's whipped. I'd be whipped a couple times over with a girl like that. Hell, any girl...anyways. Jay Leno has made jokes about the 405. I'm insulted when a "friend" asks for a ride to the airport...that's torture, even before 9/11. I think people who want to live near the 405 are crazy. Mr Wiley now has the option of living in the Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills or a neat highrise in Century City, where Reagan used to keep an office before he lost his marbles. Right near Wiley's job! Kudos to the Wiley unit! Yay! Posted by editor on Feb. 12 2002,03:34
Ooh, double post, sorry Non!Jimi, you feel uncomfortable because you're not a kid anymore, but you're not yet grown up either. I remember how sucky that was! I'd get to use a car, but it was the station wagon, not manly at all, but it was a car...and I had a curfew! hmmmm. Someday, sooner than later, you'll have a....flat, you call it? and a car or a subway pass, you'll have a job, you'll get a gurl unless you're really bad smelling, it will come, just give it some time. And pay attention in school! or the counselors will have to work overtime! You can talk to Ic0n0, he feels much of what you do, you guys could be great friends and I mean that in the nicest way. The ugly part is that school is a bitch, but it's structured. When you get out into the world with only that piece of paper they gave you + your wits, it don't get easier. Believe it or not, someday you'll look back on your school days with nostalgia. Trust me on this. Ask somebody! The good news is that your mom won't be on your case as much! Or you'll look back on school and get fuck-all (word o' the day! ) pissed and depressed. Either way, though, you will enjoy. You -will-...

Um...what can I say, it sucks to be you. What you need is a plan. Without a plan there is no attack, without an attack there is no victory. 1. Get job 2. Buy car 3. Drive the fuck out of Oklahoma 4. Keep driving to Germany (you may have to get creative here) 5. Give the Kommando lovin to your woman 6. Watch some TV and take a nap, it was a hard day Posted by Rhydant on Feb. 12 2002,05:20
yeah, my commute is horrible.i have to walk to school. it takes me a whole god damn 5 minutes. and you think you have it bad. Posted by veistran on Feb. 12 2002,05:22
The only solace I have in the 45 minute drive I have to school is the fact that I can drive 80mph most of the way and the cops don't give a fuck.

I work about 3 miles away from my apartment. Oh, and sometimes it's packed and it takes me almost 10 minutes to get there... torture. My only solace comes in the days I do my work from home.Course, that's probably all coming to an end soon... including the home. Posted by PTL on Feb. 12 2002,06:15
HAHA! Well Rhy, you're not alone. I had to walk to school from kindergarten until my Junior year of high school and THEN I had to BEG to drive my dad's '76 Nova (which I hated at the time). I didn't get a car until my Sr. year when I started making the payments on that fucker (it was a Honda Civic EX Sedan..... I miss that car) Posted by editor on Feb. 12 2002,18:16
C'mon, Mr Heaves, pack your cat and move to LA! You can sleep on my couch for a few days while you get settled....I thought it was so cool when I bought my last car on a credit card, right up until I got the first bill, with interest. My payments are about 300 bux/month, at 21% interest. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Oh, sorry, just thinking about PTL again. Sorry to betray you, Nikita. Unless you want to join in.... I had to walk 10 miles to school and it was all up hill, Both ways, in 2 feet of snow. they had to raise and lower the ends of town in those days to help with drainage cause back in those days water did not run down hill. Then there was the indian attacks to worry about... Posted by ic0n0 on Feb. 12 2002,19:23
