Now how is the poor thing going to slit your throat while you're sleeping and gorge on your body for weeks while making your house a haven for the local ferel animals?
You're quite inconsiderate.

i say we put the kitty out of its misery.
it obviously cant walk properly.
off with its legs!

I got my kitty declawed this week She's limping around the apartment now crying when she takes steps. I feel like a horrible human being.
Posted by CatKnight on Oct. 05 2001,18:04
bah thats horrible neophyre
Posted by Rhydant on Oct. 05 2001,20:20
you should, heaves!
declawing a cat is like cutting off a human's finger from where the nail grows.
you should of got the little caps. they just glue 'em on, and no more sharp points. they come in lots of colors too.

Screw this crap, I've had it. I ain't no Mr. Cool.

She's doing a bit better today. She's learned to walk on her hind legs and cry when where she wants to go is too far.

I had to do it. I have burber carpet, and she was getting her claws caught everytime she took a step. She'll be a lot happier pretty soon. I still feel kind of bad though.

I vote we cut Rhydant's balls off so he can't reproduce. The world is too overpopulated as it is...

Dude, give the cat away and get an AIBO. That way you can program it to do only the stuff you like. If you decide to take an animal into your home, you need to accept the bad stuff that comes with it.

Sorry dude, you're allowed your opinion and I've respected your comments for quite a while, but I think you just dropped a few notches.

Your opinion on neutering?

Are you BLIND WillyPete?
I suppose you think it's wrong to spay or neuter animals too, right?

Btw that's Manchurian (right near China) and they don't do weirdass stuff like that anymore.

How about, "This rates with the "American" practice of circumcision"?

declawing a cat is a bit extreme just get its claws clipped every now and then ffs! you wait till it gets 12 years old and starts throwing up on ur carpet. i have nightmares about that noise cats make for that.

simultaneity is not absolute. So just because you think i'm wrong, from my frame of reference i'm right!

I already feel bad about doing it, but I just had to. She would lay there on the carpet, and suddenly decide to run elsewhere... but not without taking a good yank on one or two of her claws that were stuck in the carpet. I didn't want to wait until the day that she yanked one of them out on her own. At least she got anesthetic and antibiotics this way.

Besides, she has gotten the most love ever the last couple days. She's feeling a lot better now and will be almost completely normal in a couple days.

Have you ever tried to clip a psychotically active little cat's nails? I have. We had 3 people holding her down and could only clip one of them before we lost the cat for 2 days under the bed. This is not a permanent solution to clip 20 nails every 2 weeks. Plus, she hated her scratching post and wouldn't use it, so it was on to expensive things.

I'm not normally a big fan of this sort of thing, but it seemed necessary and it took me a month to come to the decision. And as for the AIBO comment, the cat was a stray that I took in so that she wouldn't be eaten by a coyote. It's not like she's a status symbol or anything. She came to the door weighing under 5 pounds because she was on a Kangaroo Mouse diet. She's up to almost 7 pounds now since I feed her each day, water, litter, etc. I'd like to think I've done something humane. Besides, we're buddies.

What the hell is an Ikea?

Posted by CatKnight on Oct. 08 2001,00:32
a cheap furniture store
Posted by kornalldaway on Oct. 08 2001,00:41
hahahahaha
heaves haven't heard of ikea.
it may be a canadian thing, but here it's considered a rich people's furniture store. though reach people consider it poor people's furniture store and nobody ends up goin there. yet everybody gets a catalog once or twice a year.
Posted by askheaves on Oct. 08 2001,00:47
I must be right in the middle. I have more than enough for my needs, but not enough to spend indiscriminately. Must be why I've never heard of it. Sounds lame anyways. I'm happy with my hand-me-down furnature... for a while, at least.
Posted by damien_s_lucifer on Oct. 08 2001,05:59
well. hmm... kind of a tough call, heaves.

I suppose you could've just clipped her nails every couple of weeks, but I've never known a kitty that likes that, either. So maybe it's better just to get it all over with at once, so neither of you will have to go through it again.

But one thing is *very* important - she's an INDOOR cat now; do NOT let her go outside unless she is under your direct control and supervision (get a kitty leash or something.) Cats rely on their claws for climbing and self-defense. She can't zip up a tree or a fence to get away from that dog she pissed off, or the male kitty that has decided that your backyard is HIS turf.

Posted by Chrissy on Oct. 08 2001,13:45
I have a kitty also. When I got her though the place i got her from told me that I was not allowed to declaw her. I don't think I would anyway I saw what happened to my sisters cat (infection other bad things). My roommate insists that she needs to be declawed but I keep telling her that if she does that if these people come to check on the cat Im the one responsible and I wont be involved in a law suit about being inhumane to animals.
My major problem is that I cannot control my baby when Im not home so she goes on a rampage when Im not there. But she loves me.

either get the cats declawed or don't keep them inside. it's not inhumane if they're going to be inside and don't need to climb a tree to escape a dog or something. you could always just get the front ones declawed... i've heard that they can still climb with just their back claws but they can't scratch stuff up.

Heaves, did you see Fight Club? Remember the Fürni catalogue scene? (aka "the Ikea nesting instinct," or "my nice, flaming little shit.")

Ikea = Swiss furniture company that has decent, hip stuff for cheap because you have to assemble everything yourself.

IKEA = Swedish furniture company. Rather hip and decent stuff. Bright colors, clear lines. Bought by people between 14 and 35. Self-assembly, rather inexpensive. Medium quality. Pretty much in in Europe.

And according to my friend it's also a good place to find hot college chicks

Depends. There's a lot of chicks around usually, but according to my own experience the really hot ones are to be found elsewhere (read: I personally don't frequent that store too often, and neither do my friends. ).

Anyway, I start to wonder whether I should get myself an IKEA bed. I've been wanting a queen size bed for a while and IKEA seems to be the only place where I could afford one...

I bought one of those ๳ round cushiny chair type things. I just wanted an alternative to sit on in my office. I figured that a futon is a more substantial investment, and requires matching end tables and shit. I'm just not ready for that kind of committment to furnature.
Posted by miNus on Oct. 12 2001,23:46
Hahaha, that was funny heaves.

I wish I had more room in my sig... but you are already occupying it

Posted by askheaves on Oct. 13 2001,05:12
I need a futon for my den. Should I get an Ikea? We already know the cat can't scratch it up.
Posted by EvilGenius on Oct. 13 2001,05:44
sure, why not... futon's rule.

although, there's no Ikea stores where i'm at in florida.
