< Detonate V2.0a: Check it out here >

Working on it since my last post here in DetNet (perhaps 6 hours?)  Tell me what you think.

-I did the top part in flash as per editers request that the numbers move...
-I did HTML as tables that resize (try playing with the resolution a bit, it spreads and contracts) simply to spite Wiley
-the entire thing works out to be 131Kb which, I'm sure is far far under a standard forum page :)
-All the text is meant to be dynamicly generated by scripts (Eg the location, and the title, and the main content).  I could code it if you want, I've done pages like this so many times it's no problem.  The only problem is I only know PHP and MySQL.
-The Navigation will be reworked when I get what to put on the images, and in the sub areas.  (note: everything in the menus could also be dynamic if you'd like).  Thanks to Wiley for the Menu system, though it did more then double the amount of HTML ;)
-I didn't know what to do with those funky blue things I put at the top of things, so I took out the include crud and just left it blank
-I also clipped off the top a bit, i don't know if it looks better or worse, but the top area was serving no purpose (Not that alot of it does now)

I dunno what else to say, I need to not be in front of my computer for a small bit, maybe I'll go for a walk outside now or something.  Enjoy

[Edit: Oh yeah, and since I wrote all my HTML and CSS by hand I don't know how it will look in browsers other then IE 6 on WinXP, so if it looks strange, please tell me what OS/Resolution/browser your using, and descibe it or send a screenshot or something.  Thanks :)]

[Edit 2: Since this is a template of a beta everything is very easily changable at this point.  For example, I pretty much pulled the color scheme and the text out of my ass.  Also all the graphics are easily changable.]

My HTML has been 0wn3d.  Anztac, you my friend are a very talented individual with what appears to be far too much idle time on your hands.  And since we know that idle hands are the devils tools we can only conclude that you sir, are Lucifer himself  devil.gif  Out! Out Satan!!
The site truely rocks, right down to the scrolling numbers.  I think we should have a parade in your honor  ...with ticker tape, marching bands and a huge Scooby-Doo balloon.

i think it may work a little better if you make the navigation using text instead of images.. but that's just me.

Wow! This is fun!  Photoshop tennis was fun to watch, but this is *useful* and fun to see to boot!  That's neat, how the 1's and 0's speed up for a sec.  I'm checking to see if there's a "3" in there somewhere...heheheh

Anztac, where do I send the roses?

umm..  when you click on the menu item for the other links, are they supposed to be so grey I can barely read them?...

otherwise, fucking kickass

Back from school.

This site was really nothing... I've never been offered a site that I couldn't do in one sitting (even though one took a 36 hour sitting with much caffine, it had an entire dynamic backend done in MySQL and PHP, I wrote a user class that was so dynamic that it's behavior varried by use.  You've heard of linked databases, that can hold any number of different values and scale every which way, well, this was an easy user class that could scale in any direction and automatically tracked/authenticated users, then generated permissions bassed on truely dynamically laid out SQL tables, in other words, all you had to do was include the user class, and all the information/permissions/authentication was done and readily availible.  Hell, the admin didn't have to know one bit of SQL to write a new Admin function in PHP and generate a new permission type specifically for it... and I didn't get PAID  angry.gif (I'm sorry, I don't know who I'm trying to convince here, but I was proude of that...)  Anyways... I'm so tired I'm going to sleep now...  When I'm done sleeping I'de like to pseudo code an idea as sort of a replacement for Wileys system (sorry man), then you can pick between them.  They both have their drawbacks and pluses.  You'll see in some hours.

Kudos to Anztac, it's very sexeriffic!
I really like the flames in the background, but I agree with Spydir on the lightness of the menu items. Other than that, it's pretty kick ass!

wow
i just noticed that in the background of fire there's some actual text
pretty hard to make out, but it's there
awesome

This is just incredibly great. :)

I think when I was holed up in my room I really needed a pat on the back... I'm at a friends house and now I'm just blushing all over the place... thanks guys...

I had a really good idea to work with Wiley's menus though, sorry I haven't gotten to it... you know it's friday, and I'm not at home... sorry peoples... Oh yeah, and you might want to tell me the next step editer.  Am I uploading this and making it work?  I'de be more then happy to do that for you.  Am I doing that or am I handing this code over someone else?  Or what?  I'm sorta a control freak so I love doing all the parts of something, but I guess I'de be willing to let that go ;)

Again thanks for all the kind words  inlove.gif

The images are menu.gif for the normal menu button, menu_over.gif for the mouse over (in the example the color of the text is the only difference but it can be a new image all together) and then there is the menu_open.gif file for when the menu is expanded.  In the example this is just a copy of the mouse over image.  The menu part of the image name can be any name, but use _over and _open for the swapped images. Replace these images with your images (remember to change the dimentions if the size of the images is different then mine). I will post a menu on it's own < here > so you can get a clearer picture of how it works.  The original code was not written by me, but I added it to my collection the first time I saw it.

/mehappy!   me knows not to stick finger into pie before finished!  Anztac, in answer to your question, I'd like to think I know (once in a while, Ic0n0) when to butt out and let those who know what they're doing, do their stuff.

I was startled to watch that Photoshop Tennis Match you and Wiley had, start to incredible finish, and to watch you guys create a detnet site is a real treat!

All I know is that you two guys *gotta* marry your two creativities, which BTW works out well, and get the site to where it could be launched!

Then we can check with DSL, with his superior admin capabilities, and see just who can upload submissions to the site; I'm thinking we might change the post-number for "detonate member" to say,....100 posts.  Anyone with more than that can upload without permission, but subject to later review and editing.  Anyone with less than that is a "guest" or somesuch, and has to have a member post for them.  Opinions subject to hourly change.

While the rest of you are reading this,   Please SSTTOOPP asking permission to post thisorthat!  You already have permission to submit stuff!  If it's a big, complicated project by all means send a summary of what you want to do; if it's a movie review or such, go right ahead!  You know, I keep stopping in by Wiley's mockup to see what others have added, and there's ----------nothing, but me.  Even *I* get tired of seeing me sometimes!  Come on, don't be shy!  Worst thing that can happen is that your post will be replaced by something better!   It's not like someone will reach out and reformat your HD for posting a poem!  (not that I'm looking for poetry here, but if you can rhyme about hacking....we'll see)

I'm really quite pleased with all this, my only druther is that it happened a month ago, and that it was finished!  Other than the time factor, I'm quite satisfied that I'm (and you guys  too) getting my bucks' worth out of the detnet community!

hot diggity damn!

wiley, you sir, are one cool guy.
Posted by TheTaxMan on Feb. 10 2002,01:02
Anyone can splooj 100 posts in like a week if they wanted too.  I recommend more if we choose to go that route.  Maybe 300-500 is a more effective number.  It requires a lot more motivation to post 300 times (than 100) just to get something dumb on the site.
Posted by Wiley on Feb. 10 2002,01:37
Yeah ...300 is good.  Since I have just about that much.  :p
I think though in the case of somebody switching nicks or somebody who makes fewer more though provoking posts we can make some exceptions.

mmkay!

300 it shall be!  The community has spoken!

PS, I'm having so much fun posting pix, I'm gonna do it again, for no good reason at all.  Brad Pitt was here last summer, he let me take one picture, and he < blinked. >
