cut a long story short, my best mate was running up the stairs, lost balance, threw his arms out to balance himself, and in the process, accidently knocked in my front teeth.

nothing but blood.

i've broken my top jaw, and the root of my front tooth has a horizontal fracture.
it's pretty fucked up, i can't bite, because my front teeth get in the way of my bottom teeth, hence, i can't eat anything solid.

today i had my 2nd visit to the dentist, they gave me the run down of what i'm in for.
- few months in braces to straighten everything out AGAIN (i only just got out of braces last march.)
- orthopedic surgery. taking out my front tooth, and the root of the tooth as cleanly as possible, then placing in a titanium screw, then waiting around 6 months for the bone to set around it.
- Plate and false tooth. During this time i'm waiting for the screw to set in, i have to get a plate, with a false tooth on it.
- False Tooth. Finally, after all this time, i get my false tooth put onto the titanium screw.

Projected Time: around 9 months.
Estimated cost: $10,000 AU.

Some years ago, one of my brothers was riding on the front of a bike and ate the asphalt!  A motorist brought him home all bloody and shit and my mom had the presence of mind to send me out looking for the teeth, front uppers, I didn't know where to look, but after a while, there they were, cars driving over them, we put them in a saltwater towel, guess what?  22 years later, they work fine!  I still think that's incredible, they had to be out of his head for about 2 hours!

Ugh!
Good luck to your "best mate"

i like dentists because they give you free toothbrushes.

sue your friend for the damages!

TASTY!
I put my front teeth through my bottom lip once. I've got plenty to spare so nothing left but a tiny scar, then again, that was about 22 years ago too (weeeirrddddd, Ed's bro and myself were BOTH horrid klutzs back in the day).
Only other tooth horror story I have was a wire run in my gum to straighten a tooth out that was coming through wrong.  That was fun.    rolleyes.gif

i'm not gonna sue my mate or anything for it, its just stupid, and the typical american way of doing things.

the school is more than likely going to pay for all of this, which is just aswell, considering my health cover wont cover me on orthodontic work anymore, because i've already had braces.

i'm not taking it out on the dentists or my mate or anything.
i could sit all day with dentists inflicting pain on me, and would not complain one bit. as long as they fix this.

but yeah, i'm feelin pretty crap at the moment. in a fair bit of pain, didn't wake up till 2pm today because of the pain killers i took last night. i only just got out of braces, only to have my teeth fucked up, and i'm not gonna be able to eat again for quite a while.

Yea, a friend of mine is a dentist ... he gave me like 4 boxes of toothbrushes ... so 24 in all ... just in time to hand out for Christmas :)

oh yeah, fake teeth arent bad.

i was like 10 years old when i chipped my tooth playing hockey without a helmet. it hurt like a son of a bitch, but then they put this cap on.

and every now and then, it pops off to reveal a stubby little tooth. the first time it game off, my tooth had all this green and black shit on it. it scared alot of people.

fake teeth will sometimes look slightly different shade to the rest of your teeth but other thatn that they're fine. had a mat eof mine got pushed into a concrete pillar chipped off half his front tooth. you dont notice it really.

i think the only teeth horrors i've had are self inflicted. had a filling in my baby tooth once it promply fell out leaving me with a hole in my tooth for 6months till it got a bit infected so i got my swiss army out and levered it out of me (it wasnt even wobbly but i'd had enough of the shooting pain everytime i ate on that tooth. i could have gone to the dentist but thats the thing for pussies to do ;) self surgery its the only way to fly.
