As I sit here in my sad existance wondering what I can do next to waste a bit of time I find myself wondering what humourous bugs you people have discovered with micro$oft products.

For Example the classic Win98SE (and possibly normal edition to) your screensaver executes and when you move the mouse you get a pretty entry in the taskbar that says Screensaver.

Or the non-existant word that M$ word believes is real, just type it into M$ word and it doesn't show up as wrong in the spell checker. OK so I can't remember what the word is right now but I shall go fourth and find out.

This isn't a bug as such but it made me laugh, I was doing a project for college and at one point misspelled eraticly just like that, the only suggestion M$ Word 97 comes up with is that my mouse is behaving erotically.

I have an erotic mouse everyone... Yey for me.

I have a screenshot to post aswell but because i'm at college and they have a bitchy whore firewall I can't ftp to my site so I can't host the picture so I can't post it.

I like looking for the easter eggs (hidden functions in programs that were put there by bored programers) Some of my favorites were in the old MS Office packages (95 and 97).  There was a game hidden in Excel were you had to cross over a narrow zig-zagging bridge  ..if you fell of you died.  There was a flight simulator in MS Word as well.  (No wonder why MS Office is like 700MB).  You can find all sorts of stuff like that < Here. >

The original < easter eggs archive > is also good. They even have non-computer eggs.

Yeah, there is the one in win95 were you make a file and name it something like "and now, introducing the microsoft production team" then rename it to something else and something else and eventually you get a big animated credits.

I heard about the flight sim in word, I tryed it once in high school but I was a total total noob when I did that so I couldn't get it to work, I can't remember it now.

open system.ini in notepad, find the line "SHELL=Explorer.exe" (or the like) and change Explorer.exe to "progman.exe".  Reboot.  The fix?  do the opposite, you fucking loser.

He he, speaking of which, does anyone know/remember that sheep program (silly little sheep jumping about on screen).

Well at high school  every night a large group of nerds, we didn't have our 1337 geek status at this age, we were just spotty gamers really.

Anyway everynight the nerds of my High school would gather in a mass of about 15 people to kill each other at Q2, one night before we left we went round setting the shell on every machine to sheep.exe.

Oh how hilarious it was to watch when the first class the next day, well worth being late to the first lesson for. :D

Try this: open up Notepad, and then go File, Open, then type con/con and then open it.  Have fun  :)

Oh ya, don't have a bunch of important stuff opened with work you haven't saved.

Edit: Hmmm.... apparently they fixed it in XP, it works in 98 for sure, and as far as i know in 95.

isn't there that thing where if you type i hate bill gates into word 97 or something you get "here here" come out as the auto correct?

If you type in "I'd like <wutever>" or "I hate <wutever>" the thesaurus gives you "I'll drink to that" just because its next in alphabetical order.
