17. Good student. Got caught drinking by my parents as of today. I don't drink to get drunk. They have no proof of anything else. I don't really care to elaborate, but does anyone have any bright ideas in terms of what to say to them? If this goes over wrong, I'm probably moving out and not going to college.

Okay, if you prefer honesty, tell them that growing up means having choices, and sometimes people make the wrong choice, but that's ok as long as you learn from the mistakes. (a little after school special-ish, but what the hey.)

Are your parents Omish? I would expect my son to know what a beer was by the time he was 16. I'm not saying I would encourage it, but it surely wouldn't suprise me when I caught him. I think your parents are just busting your balls because that's what they're supposed to do. Just ride it out and everything will be fine. Don't do something stupid like move out and drop out of school just to get back at them, it's just going to mess you up in the long run.

I agree. Hell, the first person that every really tried to get me drunk was my father.
He also offered to buy me pot. I declined though.
You screwed up. Admit it and move one. Don't screw over your future because of one little mistake. You don't want to end up working a dead-end luser job like being a 7-11 clerk, do you?

Move out and get empacipated so that you are no longer a dependent of you parents, first you need a job though. Then you can drink all you want without some jerk naggin' you out. Plus you will be able to get more finacial aid for college the poorer you are...You can get an after school job from 4 to 12 and make enough to afford cases of beer!
Plus you can take girls home with you since your 'rents won't be there. Plus you won't have to do any chores you don't want to. That's the good life.

You should try to get a friend or two to do the same thing so you can be roomates and afford a small apartment.
If they don't want to moce out since they got a coushy life living off their parents you can always plant some weed or empty liquor bottles in their rooms or car so that their parents kick them out too.

Eh. Over it. Didn't really talk about it, which meant I had to tell no lies, which is good. Not that it really makes me feel guilty, but it adds the proverbial second cock to the ass if I get caught for what I lied about. There was no dialogue for two days, and on the second day I really sucked up, so it blew over as of this morning. I don't really think I'll ever be able to come home altered again, but I can sober up when I need to if high, and, ironically, I never get drunk when I'm out. Thankfully it didn't come to a drug test. I would have passed a piss test no problem, but, in the event of an ever-so-rare hair test....that's when I'd be out of the house, by choice. My parents would know some very bad things about me.On a more interesting note, about freedom:
One of my best friends, who happens to be smart as fuck (1440 SAT), will be living homeless in California next year. He's gonna ride the rails out there from Chicago, and I honestly believe he has the skills to do it: he knows enough people. I met two friends of his that rode the rails to New Orleans just to get a sandwich. I was talking with him today, and his idea of freedom isn't really any different than mine, it's just that I'd rather do it in style. Anyone else wanna share their preferences?

let me get this straight...You came home slightly buzzed. Your parents busted you (somehow) and came down hard on you. Hard enough to freak you out. And it took you two days of sucking up and avoiding them to clear it up? Thats not exactly healthy, nor is it even SANE.
I just TELL my parents when I'm going to be drinking, and where I'll be staying. As long as they know I won't be out wandering around drunk, they're basically okay.
And why the hell WOULDN'T you drink to get drunk? Are you a 2-beer drunk and don't want to embarrass yourself? What the hell?
And what type of parents would give their kid a DRUG TEST? Those arn't cheap (I"m assuming because nothing medical ever is) and show a serious lack of trust.
Well, how old are you? If you like 14 I could see your parents freaking out..

No, I just don't like the feeling of being drunk, I'd much rather altered in other ways. The reason they freaked out is that they thought I was a good kid for the past 17 years, and, for the first time ever, they find out I'm not. And, they realize that I'm GONE, 3000 miles away, come mid-August, to school, which they are paying for. I'm pretty pissed at myself for getting caught though, since I was thisclose to getting away with everything I have ever done. Still, the things they don't know outnumber the things they do know about 1000 to one.
