Would people be willing to post one playlist each, genre-specific (i.e. rap/rock/pop/etc.) so that I can pick over them and get some new music? I'll post one of mine later, but I'm kind of busy currently.

I have around 3,000 songs on my playlist... my collection is diverse as hell, I mean... here... I'll list off a few artists that are in a row...(1262-1547) Radiohead Rage Against the Machine Rammstein Rancid REM Republica RES Rob Dougal (Rob D.) Rob Zombie Roni Size Samuel Barber Santana Sarah Mclachlan Seven Mary Three Sevendust Silverchair Sipping Soma Slipknot Smasking Pumpkins Snopp Doggy Dog Snot Soul Coughing Soulfly Soundgarden Spineshank Squarepusher Squirrel Nut Zippers Stabbing Westward Well, I guess that sorta illustrates it.. But my list is mainly populated with Rock, Techno, classical, more techno, really really loud rock, and um.. I don't know, whatever sounds good Posted by Uberkommando on May 03 2002,04:43
Speaking of techno, can anybody recommend some really great techno bands? Not the raver kind of techno, more like the techno you'd find on your old Descent CD.

Download as much Bad Religion as you can, put it in one list, and hit shuffle, loop, and play.Substitute They Might Be Giants and it's just as good, if a litttle more bizzare. Posted by PersonGuy on May 06 2002,01:06

Very awesome list PG, I've seen Square Pusher and Plaid live (damn Warp Records rules.) Also seen TCM live Oh yeah, I think your missing BT - Dreaming in there Definitly have to add some of that stuff to my list (have alot of it already).Yay! Techno! Oh yeah, I didn't know The Orb and Orbital were different... Like... I've seen Little Fluffy labeled by all sorts of different artists, but ussually it's been labeled either The Orb, or Orbital. I would assume it's The Orb? I want to add so much more to your list! I love Supreme beings of Leisure, More Prodigy!! Get some Aphex Twin! And some mroe Moby! Some Curve! More Orbital, though very nice choices... I generally aprove... I think I'll butt out now though... Posted by smartsnake on May 06 2002,03:27
< List >Pretty wide range of stuff. Posted by Cyrino on May 06 2002,07:32
< Here > is the full list of all my mp3s. Lots of variety for different moods, I usually just put it on random and let it play on and on.

ok, so I realize "obscure" is not a genre really, but that's where most of my music taste fits...perhaps international rock..Apart - The Young Dubliners (Irish-Rock) Neverending - The Young Dubliners Boston to St John's - Great Big Sea (Celtic-Rock, Canadian) Fast As I Can - Great Big Sea Skin - Fruit (Australian band I saw at Bumbershoot- wow) _ Sorry they're short lists, but I'm not at my computer at home where the real list is. These are just the ones that come to mind at the moment. Posted by PersonGuy on May 07 2002,22:28
Thanks! I've been trying to bulk up my music collection for a couple years now. I guess my favorite bands right now are the most experimental ones that aren't on many people's list yet. It's cool cause whenever people need music for their games/art up here they ask ME. They're like, "I need music for a scene where a cute anime dinosaur finds a dimentional portal inside of a cave." And I'm like, "Mouse on Mars - Niun Niggung - Mykologics". But in terms of size, I bow to you almighty music god! Sadly I've seen very very few electronic bands live. 99% of the electronic performances in WA are in pubs. They won't let me in JUST to listen because I'm under 21! It sucks! But I've seen Uberzone and TCM. I've been to a lot of other concerts, and by far TCM puts out the most energy! Those trucker boys know how to destroy a crowd. As far as BT goes, I lost my copy of "Moving in Still Life" so I haven't had a chance to rip from it. But I love 3 or 4 of the songs on there. Little Fluffy clouds is The Orb. Don't worry about the mix up, it's a common mistake. The only easiest way to tell the difference between the two: The Orb uses space and total album climax (most songs use .7 or lower amplitude). Orbital uses a lot of string(ish) instruments and overlapping melodies. Honestly the only Moby albums I've liked are Animal Rights and Play (and all the Remixes / B-Sides in and around Play). The further back I go, the less I like his music. ... Ah! Stop kicking me!!! (that's the reaction I usually get at least) I LOVE Aphex Twin! But I don't have any of his albums yet. I've never heard of Curve, but I'll check it out tonight. Posted by veistran on May 07 2002,22:42
TCM live is great, saw them late summer last year.

Am I the only one who listens to any indie stuff? Posted by Necromancer on May 09 2002,01:51
yes there's a reason for that
Posted by chmod on May 09 2002,03:24
Everyone else is missing out. Posted by PersonGuy on May 10 2002,21:15
I'm doing you a favor by not listening! Cause the second people start listening it's not indie anymore... and then everybody gets sad and yells, "SELL OUTS!" And then you have to go find new indie bands that will hopefully never be successful. And then the mail man says, "I HARV NO PICKAGE!" And then my appartment smells like soy sauce for another week... then again I may be wrong. Posted by smartsnake on May 14 2002,00:09
Anyone know any good funk songs?
