well the underground river at the bottom of my road still hasnt gone back to being underground. its taken all the top soil away as its been overflowed since october so probably wont go away for ages. even though the heavy rain stopped months ago.

I too am from Norther Cali, but not on the coast. It is pretty hot up here, around 95-98, and it hasn't rained in weeks. I usually go to Arcata CA for the summer and hang out in the red woods where it is never above 60 and rains all the time (perfect ), but this summer i am toughing it out in my small hot dusty town.

Seattle is just BEAUTIFUL. Mostly sunny, high 60's/mid 40's.

Mmmmmmm.

weve had a few scorchers, but the rain is really a problem. unlike l33t who wants to ride his bike, when it rains too much i cant make any money (i mow lawns...mowing wet lawns = bad idea)...

Fucking rain. Fucking shit fuck crack ass whore..etc..

So far the temperature around here has been hovering between 10-25C. Its sunny manybe two days out of a week, and SHIT for the others. Hopefully things dry out in time for the mid-July startup.

Here in Concord (15 miles W of Oakland) it's been in the 90's for the last couple of weeks, dropping to the mid-60's at night.

mmm... summer nights...

Texas in the summer, that has to suck. I remeber seeing on the news last year the reports of those ppl that died in their houses from the heat.

I live in Tucson, AZ. One of the hottest damn cities in America. It's already been over 100 almost every day for the last month. It hasn't really rained in almost a month either. You just can't go outside.

Now, I'm visiting Minnesota for my bro's graduation, and I'm finding it's been below normal temperatures for like 19 days now in the midwest, and it's been dreary and cloudy that whole time.

Is the weather nice anywhere in the country right now?

Posted by moetown on Jun. 07 2001,05:46
oh yeah! I live on the coast in Northern California. No not anywhere near the bay area, TRUE northern cali. It's about 68 out and not a cloud in the sky.

Some may laugh and say 68 that's not even hot!! Well 68 here feels like its 90 in Las Vegas. I'm sure 98\% of you won't believe that though....

Posted by LiNeY on Jun. 07 2001,18:45
... and here is the weather report for Hamburg, Germany:

The present weather is 15° Celsius, clouds, rain and wind.

It's been like that EVERY time I arrived at the airport. No matter where I came from. As for the rest of the time, it's pretty much like that. No real summer, no real winter. Just cold/rainy/windy. I'd move anywhere, even into the deserts of Texas.

Sounds like you live in Redding or Chico or somewhere around that area. I live in Eureka (I found it!) As far as raining all the time, defently NOT this season. We are having nothing but blue skys and no rain. Good bye Cabin fever!

Posted by Non on Jun. 08 2001,00:08
Yeah I am in Weaverville which is 45 miles west of Redding and about as hot usually. Yeah i was looking forward to staying in arcata cos summer here makes my alergies flare up but since it is not rainy there i guess either way doesn't matter.
I will just live in a bubble this summer...

A brief forecast for next few days:
Today: mostly sunny after morning showers windward and mauka [mountains]. Trades [winds, from NE] 15-25mph. Temps 80-86.
Tonight: brief mauka showers. otherwise mostly clear. trades 10-25mph.
Tomorrow: mostly sunny after brief mauka showers. trades 10-20mph. Temps 78-85.

Being a weather-forecaster in Hawaii is one of the easiest jobs in the world. ever. winds are from that direction about 80\% of the time. Temps fluctuate by about 8 degrees F over the year.

its 90 degrees... and the AC is broken. not like i'd use it anyay. cost like 10 bucks an hour to run the fucker.

A bolt of lightning hit right near my house and everything shook!

About a week and a half ago a bolt of lightening struck next door and knocked my neighbors elderly mother over the fence she was climbing over giving her a concussion.

Also, you've heard of Ball Lightning? Well one of those was travelling down the powerline headed for my neighbors house, and their transformer exploded.

er i think ball lightning is a hoax. it was probably just a power surge or something.
Posted by Observer on Jun. 11 2001,12:02
Maybe in that situation, but ball lightning has been observed repeatedly on airplanes flying through storms. And no I don't have a reference offhand.

i wuldnt completely discount ball lightning i mean they have been able to produce very small ball shaped discharges in the lab so its not an impossibility

Hehehe. You too?

Actually, if you watched the news as it was passing through Minnesota, watch the lower side of it where it dissappears off the radar. Yeah. That's my house. We got 7 drops of rain and the windows rattled for about 9 seconds. The rest of the city: soaked and broken. Saw a downed tree in AV when I was going to the airport.

Well, back to the sanity of 105 degree days. I feel much better.
