What's up with people these days? The internet was once a nice placy to be. Chatting on irc, was a nice thing to do. But all of a sudden, within a year, things have changed completely. People are bitching and spamming each other for no reasons at all. There has always been people doing that, but never as many as now. And ops are allowing it and helping people to flame each other. It has taken a very bad turn, and what I once liked is now a pain in the ass. Lot's of my friends are on irc, and the only way to talk to them is in there, when they're online. But not 5 minutes pass without some lam0r starts bitching about stuff and bitching every one around him. But hey...I can live with that too, but The serious issue here is when it gets personal. When a lam0r starts bitching one other person and continues doing it. I got really pissed the first time I saw it happen, but I didn't do anything about it other than just defending the poor guy a few times. Then it happened to me all of a sudden, and he just wouldn't stop. It ended up with me diconnecting, and it kinda ruined my day. Please, stop being such lam0rs on irc, or the internet generally. In real life I'll just kick your ass, so that's no prob. But it bugs me on the internet. [This message has been edited by Kolben (edited June 16, 2000).] Posted by Dan on Jun. 16 2000,21:10
The internet is just like any other population of people "a whole ton of losers, a few winners" - george carlin.

I had to leave IRC for a while because of shit like that. I go on now just to talk to a few people here and there but overall I agree. People need to stop being so pathetic and taking IRC so seriously it's getting to be a real drag going on.------------------ Posted by LinkDJ on Jun. 17 2000,02:26
Dan: You dont have to quote the whole thing. There has only been one post, we can figure it out. (clarifying)

I really don't want to op a channel. Not that it's difficult, but I don't need to have my own channel. And it still wouldn't solve anything. First of all, the people I wanna talk to is on the other channels, so unless I advertise they wouldn't join to mine. And 2nd, I still like chatting with other people, just not the lewsers. And third, it won't make people stop bitching each other. And then they would get pissed at me for kicking them and it would get very very personal. It's that thing I want to eliminate. So planting a bot on a channel wouldn't solve anything.

I suggest you take a look at whatever network you're running on and change it, I've been on IRCNet since I got g-lined off EFnet for getting IRCop status and killing random users. All in all, IRCNet, while its not as protected as other networks, its often much nicer in the channels, #cybercafe on IRCNet is one of the more popular ones because they have their own strict rules, anyone causing shit in the channel gets banned, simple as that, any bad language, banned, any racist remarks, banned, sending out onjoin messages and/or advertising, kick, sending out virusses knowingly or unknowingly, kick (ban if repeated) and a message to tell them how to fix it. It's a damn nice place, just dont do anything unsociable and you're fine. But as with all networks, there are still the "warlords" and "packet-kiddies", the difference being, on IRCNet, you get absolutely no form of protection, no nick registration, no chan registration, no special modes so ppl cant get your IP, no nothing. ------------------ Posted by Bob_Cannibal on Jun. 17 2000,17:08
Here's a better one... make your own channel, pop an eggdrop on it, and kick lusers....
