Everytime I click on any link to a detnet page, it completely loads but takes a year and a half to display. I thought it was just my system originally, or my connection, but EvilGenius was having the same problem. Anyone else getting this funky lag?------------------

Yeah, the lag I get is with the menu bar coming up. Happens on win2k, 98se, and nutscrape/linux

I use regular 98 and internet explorer. I'm saying everypage lags horribely when it's trying to open it. Seems to have started about the same time as the new flash video was in the news...------------------

my comp loads pages slowly too... but I'm sort of blaming it on my scanner... ------------------

I know that the pages here are all sorts of innefficient. My network admin showed the stats for the day once when I was playing just a little bit around on detnet, and I had used, like, a ton of bandwidth for very little surfing. And, i've tried surfing here over dialup, and it's pretty painful. You should see about optimizing, cr0

On the Scanner? What's the reasoning behind that? I'm curious is all. Anywayz, I've noticed the lag too, thought it was just the menu bar javascript. ------------------

Yes, i'm aware that this has been said before... but the meny bar causes so many problems, wouldn't it be better if there was some way to just bypass it altogether with something more portable or something that's non-javascript?This message has been edited by chmod on December 11, 2001 at 04:42 PM

The menubar won't display until all the other images on the page have loaded (including flash animations). Before that it was some little button image in the "Links and Awards" section on the main page.------------------
When 1337 hax0rs start impaling each other with swords and typing code with a hook on one hand, then they can modify the term "pirate."

i noticed the blips when running 3 megs per second on the school's T1, but now that the flash thingy is gone it loads better.. but on my personal machine (which runs about 200k/sec raw data rate) it loads like 90\% of the page.. and then stops on the first page.. but usually i can click teh stop key, and the top menu bar for the forums is already half-way showing, and appears after i hit the stop button.------------------
