I just watched "Bless the Child" and realize that movies are getting just getting lam0r and lam0r. I am curious about what passes as a good movie with the Det.netters. Lets hear your picks for the coolest and lamest movies you have seen. give a brief summary of each. best: Hackers with Angelina Jolie as a hot 133t ha><0r lamest: the professional, a girls family id killed by corrupt cop so her neighbor some how ends up taking care of her only he is a mecenary and she is eager to learn how to get revenge... the concept is lame but the merc is cool ------------------ Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Mar. 13 2001,23:52

PokeMON, DigiMON, CrapaMON, etc. 6) Any movie about the real Santa Clause EXCEPT Earnest saves Christmas That's all the generalizations I got... EDIT: <midget>nyahah... I SAW THAT! anyone who picked dune (original) for a favorite, obviously hasn't read the book... or either just doesnt care that they are hardly similar. (the sci-fi made for TV was almost 90\% to the story line.. but the FX sucked ass)
maybe some others... hey.. and by the way?.. i don't really remember all that well.. but was the movie SEVEN always spelled with a 7 for a 'v'... or is that a recent thing ? And another thing.. how do you s ------------------ Posted by darksol on Mar. 14 2001,07:03
its true, the book and the movies are totally different. Frank Herbert didnt write nothin about wierding modules. Anyways, both kick ass though. The 4 hour dune kicks major, but the 2 hour isnt as good. the book is the shit. and the new dune series thingy is such bullshit crap its beyond sad and stupid, its entered a whole new realm.------------------ Posted by kuru on Mar. 14 2001,07:11

There are too many movies. There have ALWAYS been TONS of SHITTY movies. Theres also a lot of good movies.Star Wars, Indiana Jones, DUH! Alice in Wonderland, Sword in the Stone favorite Disney flicks. Toy Story 1/2 are good too. My favorite movie as a kid was The Neverending Story, great movie. Matrix, Die Hard (Im partial to the latest one for some reason), Terminator 2. Waterworld, oh Wait! (Actually, when I saw this, I thought it was only mediocre...) Dogma, Austin Powers 1/2, Amazon Women in the Avacado Jungle of Death...oh wait. There's Something About Mary. Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Army of Darkness CHEESE AWARD! The South Park movie. The Sixth Sense, American Beauty, Pleasantville, Braveheart. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Traffic. Godfather Saga. Dungeons & Dragons, oh WAIT. Dark City, Akira, Princess Mononoke is good. Alien movies are good. Battlefield Earth, OOOHHH WAIIIIIT!!!! Hmm, we need more and better Sci-Fi... Theres a bunch of other stuff that I like but that would make this list too unwieldy. --Kintara Posted by Kintara on Mar. 18 2001,01:57
I'm the FIRST person to put Indiana Jones, I HOPE it was just so good that it was subconciously avoided.Gladiator, Ghostbusters 1/...2 too, Pulp Fiction, True Romance, The Usual Suspects, Men in Black, Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, Silence of the Lambs. All these are from perusing the posts above. UHF, Wierd Al ("STUPUUD, YOU SOO STUPUDD!")! The ONLY fucking reason Hackers would even be considered is because of Angelina Jolie and the idea of her being attacted to someone as lame as the main character, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I like Sleepless in Seatle and When Harry Met Sally. Meg Ryan, I like her, what can I say? --Kintara Posted by Kintara on Mar. 18 2001,02:25
Ahh, third post...I personally like Christina Ricci, so anything shes in. Princess Bride. That movie with Neve Campbelle where the guy is set up having an affair with a student but it gets more complicated, its set in Florida... Apollo 13. Again, I dont know why but I like that witch movie, The Craft. Something about the movie... Im fucked up I guess. Instead of posting four times, Ill edit (Doh, i shouldve before but it slipped my mind). Fight Club, obviously. --Kintara This message has been edited by Kintara on March 18, 2001 at 10:07 PM Posted by Sithiee on Mar. 18 2001,08:50
first off, UHF is a fucking awesome movie...."SUPLLIEEEEESSS!!!!!" and its spelled stupid, not stupud. also, i think we need to address something here. die hard 2 was not good. there are so many things wrong with it, that its just not enjoyable. first off, snow in d.c. in winter? unlikely. that much snow?? what the fuck are you smoking? that was probably my biggest complaint. i mean in the third one, they didnt have snow, because snow doesnt happen in new york in the summer. well snow doesnt happen here in winter, especially not on christmas... Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Mar. 18 2001,10:40
well it hasnt snowed properly in London since like 1973 but does that stop film makers make it look like its drowned in a white blanket of white stuff (no semen jokes please) no of course not. who cares no one really pays much attention to what city its filmed in its not like its that big of a deal.oh yeah and why the hell do people say the exorcist is so scary (apparently voted the most scary movie ever). everyone who was in the cinema when i went to see it including me and this was a warner bros so it was a lot of people everyone was craking up not with fear but with histerics. it was like one of the funniest movies i've ever seen. of course when your watching it on your own its just boring and i switched over to another channel to watch the 5th element which is another damn great movie cos everything is so tongue in cheek yet at the same time slightly serious brilliant film This message has been edited by Dark Knight Bob on March 19, 2001 at 05:49 AM Posted by Kintara on Mar. 19 2001,01:47
I know its spelled stupid, stupid. He says "STUUUPUD!"*edit* I forgot to add a couple I remembered to my extensive list. 5th Element, forgot about that one. Wayne's World 1/2, Forest Gump. Whichever asshole started this thread is a goddamn, fucking asshole. Leon (also presumably known as The Proffesional in the states) is an absolutely fantastic film. Natalie Portman was amazing, Gary Oldman was brilliant and the last action sequence is one of the best in movie history.Deckard is a fucking replicant to whoever it was that was asking and the Director's Cut makes it subtley clear (I had to avoid saying painfully clear because there's nothing painful about that movie, it's superduper). He dreams of the unicorn when he's at his piano in the second half of the film, I think. Anyway, he is, he is, he is, he is. Argh! The unicorn sequence IS in the Director's Cut, that's partly what he did the DC for. The unicorn sequence is taken from Scott's flop Legend. It's completely fucking obvious when you look at everything in the film, I'm not going to go through it all now but all you need to do is see and hear what the other blade runner does and says in the film. Near the end of the film on the rooftop when Rutger Hauer dies, Gaff says "You've done a man's job" and he says "It's too bad she won't live, but then again, who does?" This is played over the top of Deckard finding the unicorn origami model outside his apartment aswell and you see Deckard nod his head as he understood what he suspected, that he's a replicant too. The reason the model is a unicorn and not a man, a chicken or anything bloody else is because Gaff knows that Deckard dreams of unicorns because he knows about what's been implanted into him as a replicant. And if you want to argue with me some more about it would you kindly fuck off and ask Ridley Scott because he said at the end of a documentary on Blade Runner when they finally got around to talking about this subject that Deckard is a replicant. This message has been edited by LazyGit on March 25, 2001 at 12:23 PM Posted by Psychosomatic_plague on Mar. 25 2001,06:54
I know, I read it in an interview with Scott. It just wasn't that obvious. considering that someone had to ask the question in the interview and documentary to find out. ------------------ Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Mar. 25 2001,23:58
