how many detnetters own guns, how do you feel about gun controlif you own a gun what kind is is and are you a good shot Posted by j0eSmith on Jul. 06 2000,23:01
I own a few guns. (well my dad does they're half mine:P)a .270 a .22 and a pellet gun. I really belive gun control is a load of bullshit. All my reasons are the same as in any arguement on the issue so I won't list them. And I am a pretty good shot. One of my friends is REALLY good (12 inch grouping at 1000 yards - 3 shots) With a large calibur rifle. Posted by *Feste* on Jul. 06 2000,23:16
I own a gun, bought it for purposes of protection when I was managing a night club and closing up in the early hours of the morning alone... never had to pull it out... never had to shoot it at anything with a heartbeat - and this suits me just fine ![]() They have their place... just wish sometimes they weren't so easily obtainable. ------------------ Posted by jptech on Jul. 06 2000,23:19
M16-A2 with pistol grip... damn it's fun to shoot! As to gun control, it's just like the bumper-sticker "Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun" Posted by k00gs on Jul. 07 2000,07:11
I can understand owning a gun for self defense, say for living in the crime capitol of the world, but other than that I think guns aren't that interesting, or necessary. I've been desensitized to guns and the people that kill them, cause where I lived, people got shot and that was it. man, the only way to kill someone is with your bare hands. =D Strangling them, getting punched in the face, punching back, grabbing a can openener bashin in the eye watching blood spew ... woah never mind. Ahh pills kicking in again. whew, no really im ok

The thing about guns are, they are only needed because bad people have them..... its a big ass paradox, the best way to deal with it is to get rid of all of them. (since "control" basically means taking them out of the hands of the good people, but not the bad). but since we cant get rid of the ones that the bad people have, we have no choice but the keep them ourselves. I'm lazy, I let others speak for me."One of the ordinary modes by which tyrants accomplish their purpose "Never turn your back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!" "Those who would sacrifice essential liberties for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until And besides self-defense, don't forget the impact such weapons have on hunting and hunting traditions. I really enjoy shooting, but not to damage anything besides cardboard targets, etc. ------------------ Posted by Wolfguard on Jul. 10 2000,13:37
As a hunter i can tell you first hand that hunting with a rifle is not a sport. When i hunt(not often anymore) i stick with a bow and arrow. It makes it more of a sport. The guns i have are just for sport/target or stopping a person. Nothing reduces stress better for me than a case of clay pidgons and a few boxes of 12ga shot. ------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Jul. 10 2000,18:48
Gun control is shit. i mean, just give the guy a gun and a gun lock and let him be on his way.oh, BTW ------------------ Posted by Lordbrandon on Jul. 10 2000,21:43

quote: Amen, going out to the range is SUCH a stress reliever. Give me the Colt 45 or the Makarov out of the gun closet and a few targets and I'll be feeling much better when I leave.
quote: Yeah, really...my Dad used to do a bit of private gun dealing to friends & family back before the Brady Bill was passed here in the US (got out of it afterwards b/c the paperwork is ridiculous). We were raised to respect guns and know how to safely handle them. Took a women's shooting lesson/gun safety course when I turned 18, and the only reason I wasn't given a Lady S&W was that we didn't feel comfortable with me keeping a gun in my dorm room. I have issues with some of the gun control legislation (both passed bills and bills in the works) here. "Guns don't kill people; people kill people." So true. Posted by Rhydant on Jul. 10 2000,22:06

guns dont kill peopleHigh speed projectiles and hydrostatic shock kill people. Gun controll is being able to hit a moving target that is returning fire. ------------------ Posted by Observer on Jul. 11 2000,12:30

nope...dont own a gun dont own a rifle never shot a gun never shot a rifle No need to. I dont put myself in places where a gun in needed. And if Im in those places I get out quickly. If I was constantly in those places, I'd probably have one. I carry enough weight on me witht the Palm, the Cell, and the Gerber tool.

i think gun control is a double-edged sword. on the one hand, if you keep guns under control (i.e. safetys and such) you can keep it out of dangerous places (small chillun's hands) and so in that repect, its not a bad idea. but the reason most people are all for gun control is because of shit like columbine. would gun control have kept guns out of their hands? maybe, but a better solution would be somethion like in the lost in space movie, smart controls. i believe in gun control for the right reasons, but not to prevent shit like columbine. i dont own a gun personally (can i? im only 16), and my parents dont either...unless theyve got a really really good hiding spot. but i was in the rifle club at school last year. oh jesus did i suck. there was one round where i missed every single target (with .22 rifles) but the sight was off, and i didnt think to fix it...but i agree, guns are fun, but only in the sense that its a stress reliever...same reason games are fun...this is getting fucking long...bye

Guns don't kill people, it those little bullets that come out the front and smack into your soft, squishy body at a high rate of speed.
