I'm just really happy right now, I finally finished installing my turbocharger on my car, and bragging about it inflates my ego The car is an 81 VW Scirocco I got when I was 15 (7 or 8 years ago) and I've been slowly fixing it up ever since. Almost everything is new on it (except the paint) and I race it at the Battle of the Imports, San Diego street races, autocross, basically anywhere where they'll let me. I saved up bucks last year and bought the turbo system in April, and just got the last parts of it a few weeks ago. I had to cut and reweld the downpipe to make it fit anyways, I'm happy it's done, running 5psi non-intercooled, and it's FUCKING QUICK. I love driving it, it will throw you back in your seat in 1st and 2nd gear. probably 160 or so horsepower now. The car came with 74. It weighs 2100 lbs. Here are some old pics:
Oh yeah, i ripped off Whiskeys "from:" tag. Sorry, but Whiskey is my new God. ------------------ Posted by L33T_h4x0r_d00d on Nov. 24 2001,03:11

Did that kit happen to be under a big blue light in a large discout store? edit:For me to spell on! Does it have one of those shiny Coffee can cups coming out from underneath the back end?------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Nov. 24 2001,04:19
i hate people that race cars. i have no fucking idea why they call it a 'sport'.which is why i race random people at intersections... with my mom's station wagon. yeah, i know it sounds lame, but this Tarus gets going pretty quickly. usually, i let the other person floor it and haul ass ahead of me, but once in awhile ill burn a little rubber. heh heh heh

quote: Ahahahahaha...station wagon...ahahaha. ahem...I hate auto racing too, but not necessarily the people who do it. I used to race ppl off the line w/my truck. It's a '93 Ranger Splash, 4.0 V6. Pretty damn quick. I can take just about anything off the line (Mustang, Camaro, TA). Of course, anything much past "the line" and I'm toast, but hey, by then I back off and am like "it's cool." Heh, damn sports car "compensators." Heh. edit: WOOHOO 300! ------------------ This message has been edited by Beldurin on November 25, 2001 at 11:02 AM Posted by miNus on Nov. 24 2001,16:57

quote: Man, you cant joan on the scirocco. It may not be the prettiest car out there but if it werent for the fact that they were banned from rally cross they'd probably still make them. What engine do you have? Static compression ratio? I wanna see a dyno run man. ------------------ Posted by StreetRaver on Nov. 25 2001,00:20
ummm......160 HP is stock for most cars from 1985. I'd like to know what other engine mods you did to this car before I make any coments on this car. If you didnt already, i would increase the air intake to the engine, and as well as lowering the car for less air resistance. that would be the two minor tings i would do as for easy shit. Note: to lower a car very easy. go buy 5inch lowering blocks for the back axle near the wheels. ------------------ Posted by Vainness on Nov. 25 2001,00:38

I enjoy watching auto racing, a la NASCAR and CART, and not just for the crashes and to make my manliness increase becasue "I'm watching ubercars drive real fast." It's pretty cool to watch all the strategy going on esp. towards the end of a race like Taledaga. However, people the drag on the streets outside my home piss me off to no end.------------------ quote: Posted by veilside on Nov. 26 2001,00:36

Lmao... SPeed holes.. hilarious. But SR, they gots a point, this guy obviously knows what he's doin, you saw all the crap he did to the turbo.------------------ quote: Posted by miNus on Nov. 26 2001,01:56
Uh. Speed holes. Riiiiight.-edit- nevermind, L33T told me the joke, spare me please. I'm sorry if I offend you caseman, but: Streetraver... that was unfuckingbelievably moronic, for many reasons. "i would increase the air intake to the engine" - you mean the TURBOCHARGER doesn't give the engine enough air? "ummm......160 HP is stock for most cars from 1985" - not even commenting on that (<-- owner of 90hp 1989 cavalier ) "as well as lowering the car for less air resistance. that would be the two minor tings i would do as for easy shit. Hey "One who dances to earthquake" (streetraver):Now I don't consider myself a big bad car guy yet. But I do know this, lowering a car is stupid to do unless you know exactly what you are doing and do it properly. Lowerig a car has all sorts of side effects that can increase wear and decrease safety. Perhaps one of the more knowledgable guys on here can explain this further. Posted by ReetStraver on Nov. 26 2001,15:02
quote: Who needs steering geometry? I just want less drag and my tires to wear all funny. That makes moer power for your cams to turn and changes your fuel coefficient for turning right.
quote: You know if you were to put a lowering kit on your carburator you could pull 400 more joules out of your dilithium crystal. That will decrease your drag that will increase your horsepower to make more torque in your intake. but you have to change your computar to make more then 400 horsepowers. but make sure you torkalater is tight or something bad might happens; ---------- NitRooS mAkes yur cAr go fasTER. Rice:Lowwering Kit - Cutting ones springs. Performance Exsaust - 5" Tip, or if one is really a l33t b107ch a 3" inch exsaust system all the way to the 1" downpipe. Turbo - The addition of decals (Mugen decals - 10Hp(+5 extra if the car is not Honda), Nizmo decals - 15Hp(+10 extra if not Nissan), Racing stripes (+30 Hp), Flames (+30 Hp), Type R emblem (+50 Hp). Weight Reduction - Carbon fiber racing gauges. Aerodynamic tweeking - บ,000 body kit conversions that weigh down the car and tunnel air into non-exsistant intercoolers and cold air intakes that aren't there. Also, 60 Pound triple tierd spoilers have been known to help acceleration. Improving cornering capabilities - Negitive camber angle (see Lowwering Kit). Gold plated rims. Improving Braking Characteristics - Painting the brake calipers. Euro brake lights. Misc. - Underlighting improves visibility. Flashy things (multiple shifting lights), knobby things ("special" shifters), and useless gauges (such as a PSI sensor on a NA engine) tend to add to the reliability of the engine. ------------------ This message has been edited by DeadAnztac on November 27, 2001 at 06:27 PM Posted by Der_Teufel on Nov. 26 2001,20:32

Just goto < www.riceboypage.com > it's the first one that was made and the dude sort of 'coined' the term. There is a FAQ there that explains it, however he hasn't updated the site in allllloooooonnnnnggggg time.edit: forgot to mention < www.beaterz.com > it's somewhat of a rice page but more or less it just makes fun of some funky cars.
