Or maybe just integrating a java IRC client set to the detnet channel into the site somehow?

why not just start up an ICQ Active list?
everyone has icq and you don't have to be on detnet to chat

i dont have icq...i dont have a lot of things....like time...or brainpower....or money...or a sense to know when to stop talking....wait, i do have one of those...

i have icq. some of you have the number.

i have to figure out how to get it all working at work so i can waste time and get paid for it.

I can't belive I never thought of that, fatbitch...
Do active lists work so that everybody hears everybody (like a chat room) or is it just a list so you can regualar IM?
It would have to be chat based to be cool...

i'm a fan of the java irc thing

if you want an example goto warez.com and goto the chat (i was going to put the link up but the site is down for the moment)

java irc is exactly what i was thinking. icq active lists are a pain because people need to be auth'd to be added to the list, and someone actually has to be running the "ActiveList Server" program. they are cool for soem things, but i dont think (imo) for this purpose. but yeah, a java irc client aswell as the ubb would be cool

On the topic of ICQ, how about using the IrCQ plugin on a page somewhere? I don't know for sure about using it with the ICQ program directly, but it is an idea.

if you're gonna irc, get a real client.

java-anything and web-based irc clients generally suck because they incorporate all the lam0r annoying shit and leave out anything useful.

they're almost as bad as irc from a webtv.

oh, and no ms comic chat, as that one also blows donkey nads.
