You'll be smoking again within a week. Probably tomorrow

You should try heroin. Give it a couple of days and you wont even think about cigs.

Jesus Fucking Christ! (no pun intended)Can we at least give this guy some support here? Cold turkey after 2 years is a hard effort. Give it your best shot and you will do fine. Put the money you used to spend on cigarettes aside and buy some sweet gear when you have a bit saved. Try not to hang with people that smoke. Start walking or something, helps you take your mind of the cravings. Good Luck Man. Posted by shifter on Sep. 23 2001,09:32
for some reason, the thought of jesus needing to quit smoking is very funny.

my parents told me nobody likes a quiter.Ill give up smoking about a week after im dead. Remember, smoking takes years off your life. Since these are the ones at the end when your just sitting around in a home shitting yourself us smokers may be getting the better deal. ------------------ Posted by spOon on Sep. 23 2001,13:38
So your quiting jesus? Cool. Try to pick up a different habit that will keep your mind of it. Like ...i dunno. Something you enjoy. It's possible. Beleive me, I know!

yea! perform more miracles and walk on water! No seriously. I don't smoke, so I don't know much about what it's like from your perspective. I don't know what patch or what gum works. Hell, I don't even know if it works. I have heard that it's hard to quit for some ppl, and I have heard of those who have quit without too much problem. Good luck. When I stopped chewing, Kodiak and stuff I used a subsitute like sunflower seeds, still eating em and I stopped chewing almost a year ago. It can be done.. my cousin used Tootsie pops in place of cigs....who knows may work... Posted by peregrin on Sep. 23 2001,16:50
i just quit smoking. i was up to a pack and a half/day for the past 3 years. i have tried quitting several times, never without any success. i found that the only thing that allowed me to quit was to switch first to an unfiltered cigarette, then to rolling my own. i was so bad at it, and the cigarettes were so unbelievably awful that i eventually got really sick off of them. that was about 2 weeks ago. i no longer had any desire to smoke, because i began to associate sickness with smoking. if you really want to quit, you have to actually not want to smoke, not just tell yourself you dont want to. ------------------ Posted by Greasemonk on Sep. 23 2001,18:09
I quit a few years ago. I still have cravings. If someone is smoking a cig and I catch a whif of that smoke it makes me want to light up one. If I do Ill start coughing and get lightheaded because my lungs have healed some. I love the taste and smell of smoke, too bad it gives you cancer...------------------ Posted by spOon on Sep. 23 2001,18:18
I really do recomend quitin' Not only do you have a chance at cancer and blah blah blah. But you start to loose your voice. My granmum smoked pretty much all her life, still does actually. Anyways, she can't talk really. It's like trying to listen to a 6 y/o with a sore throat. I don't know why I'm telling all this but good luck.

one pack a day!! jesus dont just suddenly stop altogether you need to wind down off of the stuff or you could end up causeing cancer in the first place. reduce the amounbt you take each week and use patches and shit to compensate for the craving then when you're off the fags and just onto the patches wind yourself down off them. stopping fullstop can really mess you up.course starting in the first place is bad enough. ------------------ This message has been edited by Dark Knight Bob on September 25, 2001 at 05:02 AM Posted by CatKnight on Sep. 24 2001,14:41

This guy really needs our support. I know I don't know him that well but if he's serious we should try not to joke about it a lot. I never smoked but a lot of people I know did and I had helped them quit. I have a real problem with smoking. I'm so damn persuasive my girlfriend is stopping without my even asking. And the idea to wind down sounds good but it doesn't work. Trust me, a friend of mine swore he would stop smoking by slowly going down in the amount he smoked a week. Needless to say he is still smoking becasue he couldn't get off of it at all. But then again you could be right now that i think about it, I suppose it depends on the person though. Anywho good luck jesus.------------------ Posted by Blowgoats on Sep. 29 2001,01:10
quote: That's bullshit! Six days ago I was smoking anywhere from a pack and a half to two packs a day. Then I decided I didn't want to smoke anymore and I've quit. It hasn't been the easiest thing on the planet, not to mention the physical pain I am still going through. Good luck in any case, your journey to being a non-smoker is a difficult one, but it's well worth the fucking ride... ------------------ Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Oct. 03 2001,08:38
i never said it guarantees that you will get cancer from suddenly quitting i'm saying that most cancers start when you suddenly stop exposure to the carcenogen.for instance a freind of my parents used to live in new zealand always out in the sun. he lived there for 2 years no problem at all. as soon as he moved back into the uk he had an outbreak of skin cancer within the first month. i know a girl on my course who for her its probably more dangerous to quit suddenly because she smokes so much. all i'm saying is...*smash* *crash* smack* "AHH" ...what did happen to DKB find out in the next exciting epsiode of: "SFTU IM RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG!" ------------------ Posted by ic0n0 on Oct. 03 2001,10:27
