Forum: The Classroom Topic: Rebuild? started by: DRUFER Posted by DRUFER on Sep. 20 2001,21:19
I know that its gonna take a while for the World Trade Center site to be cleared of the rubble, and it will take even longer still for the healing. But does anybody think that the Twin Towers shold be rebuilt? And on what scale? Ive heard several differnt opinons on this including that they should be built bigger than the Sears Tower, that it should be turned into a memorial park, and to put up smaller buildings. Any other ideas out there?

a) It's Port Authority's land, and they need to recoup some of their losses.b) It's smack dab in the middle of Wall Street...in Manhattan...in NYC. Most expensive real estate around. They'll rebuild...forget the memorial stuff. They might put up a plaque or something...but they don't have the money to waste on leaving the area to simply tourism. Yeah capitalism! I agree with shou... oh shit.. that guy that posted last. That is thee most expensive peice of concrete you could ever hope to dream off. They will have a plaque or something though. They have to. Or else they would have all the people from Queens bombarding. Will they rebuild it? I think so. Gonne take em a while though. Posted by Deo on Sep. 21 2001,18:21
I say we rebuild them. Then (or now) we kill Bush and say "There! thats how its done! Dont fuck with us!" Might not do anything but atleast Bush would be gone ------------------ Posted by Rhydant on Sep. 21 2001,19:50

quote: Thats not too much more mature...how do you know that Rhydant didnt loose someone in the attacks or is close to someone who lost a family member or friend? More thoughs: they should have more that a plaque with the date on it....i mean the last time i checked there were 6,333 dead or presumed dead...thats A LOT of people...i know that the twin towers had the Windos to the World on the top of the building....if they do rebuild maybe they should put a memorial all the way up top.... quote: I have. Two people who have lost immediate family members. That doesn't give me -or- Rhydant an excuse to shoot of my mouth like that. Secondly, I gave a statement and supporting reasons. Rhydant misquoted and gave a "Fuck you newbie." You wanna attack my statement for being stupid, fine. You wanna make a dumbass post like that, then you're just another lam0r who's made enough of them to change your little sign to "l33t hax0r." Doesn't make you less of an idiot. Go on, tell me how stupid my statement was. But don't be stupid and make it personal. Posted by sHuoReNviOLiN on Sep. 22 2001,00:08
quote: That's reasonable, they might scrounge up enough money for that. Memorial park isn't. It's not about what -should- be done, it's what will be done...and a big corporation cares a helluva lot more about money than morals. Posted by DRUFER on Sep. 22 2001,00:11
quote: But its always gonna be in the back of peoples minds...what if some sick BIN Laden led bastard desides to try it again? And as far as the big corperation caring more about money than morals....some cooperations lost plenty of people when the buildings came down....you just cant ignore the sheer numbers of people that died and just say, "Oh but im going on and goning to continue to make my millions"...youll probably have plenty of upset people on your hands. quote: Does that mean we should never build another skyscraper ever again? You can what if to the end of the world...it'll never solve anything. That constant fear in the back of our minds is exactly what those terrorists wanted...should we let them have it? And why the heck are we discussing this over detnet when we're both on AIM anyway? And second of all we kept posting because im looking for other peoples opinions not just yours.

Not to make a joke, but if I worked up in one of those skyscrapers, I'd invest in a BASE jumping parachute. I like to have an out.
