oh, looky what I just ordered.

Any drummer worth his crap knows what Ludwig Vistalites are -- the kind John Bonham played on! Well, after being out of circulation for nearly 20 years, they started redoing them -- and so I ordered me a set! I want to fucking blow my load all over these. All see-thru! Christ. And to think....6 weeks and they're mine.

AHA, SIX WEEKS. but can you fucking play them? cause i really hate little bitches who flaunt their "superior" ass stuff, most of which is no use to them. but, if you play, then HEY THATS FUCKING GREAT. excuse the skeptisism, i sure hope you know where i might get it from. anyways, i have a pearl export (wine red.. just fantastic) that i got like six years ago, and its still my baby. ..and i havent seen ludwig shit in a while, i was just talking to my friend about them like stopping production on all the drum shit.

melk0r...I've been playing right on 7 years now. Probably not enough to warrant that set, but what the fuck, I say. I currently play on a < perfectly decent Tama Rockstar set > (I put on my glasses for you). I've just wanted a vistalite set forever, and they finally comissioned this new set, so I figured I'd hit'em up. They sound fantastic for being clear.

what's the skepticism bit about?

The last set I fell in love with is a DW set that cost way to much for me. I used to work in a music store and even with my discount the 5 piece kit was like 4200.00 no joke. It was burn't toast birds eye maple with goldtone rims and lugs and a sweet 9000 double bass pedal. But anyways I can dream. I started 8+ years ago on pearl and tama and have played a decent orignial clear blue tint ludwig kit like that! It was nice for its size and material, but it wasn't a kit i would liked to gig with. I wish I could find the old photos of us playing but ohh well *shrugs*

I play classic rock, although I was taught jazz. I've sort of blended for a progressive jazz effect. Sort of like Carter Beauford, but way less experienced.

Rhydant, if you're not a drummer then just don't bother posting here. we don't want to know if you care or not.

its late, and i find the fact carter beauford was just "catagorized" just makes me laugh. oh and the part about you putting yourself into that category. really.

edit - this would make me "sort of" like travis barker, only he's rich and really good at what he does.

Then we can all see if you have the skillz to back up your claims. FYI, I've been playing acoustic guitar for 5 years now, and I still suck. Probably because I started late and haven't always had the time to keep up, but still, I could say that I play sort of like Chet Atkins, but that would grossly misrepresent the level of skill I have achieved. Just a thought.

I understand how everyone finds someone famous to blend their talents to. I, like syf, enjoy carter's style. I am no where along the lines as good, but I can hold my own. I would record and post, but when we moved, I sold my drumset for a better one then after the move it ended up I had no room for my kit. So right now I am drumkitless. But i venture into the music store and play around whenever possible. I mean heck, at least syf is trying.

Hellraiser: I know how you feel, thats the way I was on the keys, I just couldn't find time to keep up. Then when I was playing drums I played trapset in Pep Band at high school so I had all the pratice. LOL and got a grade for it.... ahhh easy credits.

edit: spelling... something is still wrong I know it!

Carter Beauford plays really good progressive jazz. I play progressive jass as much as possible like him. Wouldn't that put me somewhere (far) underneath him? I don't know what your problem is, but pull the stick out of your ass. Stop being so hostile about everything.

reality check: you have never ever heard me play the drums, yet you insist on coming in here and calling me a worthless sack of shit for ever sitting down at a drumkit, and automatically assume I suck after devoting between 6 and 7 years of my life to playing them. Why do you people always think it's someone else's money that I'm spending? Am I not capable of earning my own money? TO answer that question: I am, I do, and I just spent some on drums. Get over it. If you don't earn any/enough to spend on what you desire, it's not my fault! Nor should you knock me for it.

My parents make enough money to pay for things I require, so I can spend my cash on what I want. I accept the fact that I have it better than some, if not many. But seriously, you're really using it as way to much of a division point on these boards. It's not like I'm flaunting anything at all because I'm excited I got a new drumkit, and I thought a <i>few</i> people around here might appreciate the kit. Hell, when l33t posted pics of his new bike, I told him how cool it was, and when anyone else posts pictures of their shit I go and look and give them an opinion -- but I <i>certainly</i> don't come in and flame them out for having the money to buy it! Jesus, some of you are arrogant fucks.

Kewl, I am dominate right hand. I am trying work my left hand stick ryhthems more. I want to learn to play left and right. It's sort of hard to break the right handedness after 8 or 9 years lol

Try Evan's Drum Heads, they sound rather nice, and last a quiet bit longer. But probablly your a die hard Remo fella??

Syf: Sounds like you have a more open style. Its people like that I sorta envy. I wish I could work right and left lead hands, but where I was in marching band for a couple years playing right hand dominate got drilled into me. *shrugs* ohh well

Thats the best ones.. that was our best sellers in the music store. I started the other day playing right handed, with the drum kit setup like I am going to play left handed (IE: carter plays right handed kit, left handed). Make sense?? I still played it right handed but it was more of a challenege.. had to think more.. LOL

Thats the way I started playing.. right hand crossover. But I am now learning to play right handed on a left handed kit. Sometimes it gets annoying to disassociate my bass foot as being right instead of now the left foot. HAHAA ohh have you ever heard to toto shuffle... its pretty kewl. Yeah I liked that performance... the toto shuffle I spoke of is here. Its a .mid file of a rhythm to learn to play. Its pretty nice. But you gotta turn your speakers up pretty loud, when it was recorded we didn't have cakewalk all the way up *shrugs*
