just saw a show on TLC about hackers.
one of those "objective" view points.
their most outstanding statement was something along the lines of "yes hackers are creative, and yes business is more important now".
non-offensive and dry.

Of course they talked about all the superheroes; cap'n crunch, woz, mitnik.
so now they're officialy introduced into the urban mythological pantheon.
We'll all be telling our children about how we went to our local 2600 club meeting, and they won't believe us.

That will be on here in 30 mins, but since Star Trek is on at the same time i will not be able to see all those cool hackers.

I saw it too... i was very impressed. Mitnick was wearing a 2600 shirt, too, hehehe. It was much better than those lame documentaries that just depict hackers as nerdy evil lunatics bent on DDoS-ing the world out of existence. Their information wasn't one sided or inaccurate, and it was interesting to see Cap'n Crunch, Mitnick and Woz speaking, too.
It was also pretty cool to see that blind guy with perfect pitch whistling the DTMF tones into the phone-that was fascinating.

saw a british show like that a while back. comparing the black hats with white. and even the greys . and they all said that basically despite everyone claiming its done to combat the system they all admit that its cos its a rush.

Is it just me or does WWF look 10 times more entertaining when playing the benny hill music in the background.

god... mitnick was an idiot (attempt to cover up my tracks? No! Let's get caught!! It's the rush!), Crunch was cool (I used to phreak a little, so sue me. Unless you work for the phone company, then don't sue me), and I could really care less for Woz (he's ok, but I just don't really care).

I went to my local 2600 meeting once, and I don't think I've ever seen so many packet kiddies in one room, or ever will again (I don't plan on going to a DefCon ).
