I just walked away from a ๘K/yr. job because I have completely had it with The Man. I could no longer stand being told "you're just a cog in the wheel here" and "I need you to own more of your responsibility"; I couldn't take being lectured about procedure; I couldn't stand being cooped up in a cubicle all day...

so I did it! I quit! I told them to take this job and shove it up their ass... in a courteous, professional manner, of course.

& now I'm starting my own business. I have a lot of friends who are incredible artists, and all of them dream about having their OWN business someday - so we're putting our heads together and starting one.

At the moment, we're selling crafts-type shit to rich people, because we have some already made, and we can make them quickly, and we have a couple beautiful designs. The rest of us talented, intelligent people are handling the other aspects of the business, like advertising materials and Web design.

Unfortunately this means I have to cancel my Perl class sorry...

Yeah! Fight the system! Power to the people! But then again it was a ๘K/yr job... arghhh, but you're gonna have a MUCH cooler job, as your own boss... but the money.. yet it had the evil price of a CUBICLE.. Arghh conflict between greed and self respect.. ok you made the right decision. Fierce.

NOOOOOOooooooooooooo you were supposed to get me a co-op there! Bastard!

heh...

only problem, Anztac, is that I don't exactly have any money to *pay* anyone at the moment. Everyone involved is just pitching in and doing what they can to get it off the ground...

but I *could* use some help with the SQL part. I have a server here running MySQL + httpd with mod_perl + Apache::ASP. I know SQL but I have a *lot* of work to do to get this thing up and running ASAP. If you want to help & don't mind working for free, email me... if nothing else I'll put up a big fat link to YOUR site and a glowing reference

edit : we can add PHP to my Web server if you can tell me how to get it done so that I don't lose mod_perl...

you can just compile php seperately and add it as a static module with one more line to the apache configure run..
