Anyone here have one?

I've always hated them...but I've been indulging the thought of getting one lately.

I want it to be computer related...perhaps a string of code or something. (a bit of revelations humor w/ a bar code, perhaps...)

Anyone ever seen a code tattoo or something of the sort?

You could get a copyleft symbol...

or print out the entire GPL on your back

I volunteer at the local community theater, and there is a guy there who got a tattoo of a bar code (from an Oreos package) on the back of his shoulder. It's kinda cool, but it ain't All That.

Personally, the thought of getting myself tattooed scares me. Consider this--all you need to go into the tattooing business is a business license. No health card/training/equipment inspection, nothing. That means the guy who's mangling your flesh (and those needles DO mangle it) could be using dirty ink, dirty needles, or anything else. I would be scared spitless of getting Hepatitis, AIDS, or any number of diseases from getting a tattoo.

I know that lots and lots of people get 'em, but I guess the risks of permanently disfiguring your body outweigh the benefits.

Just my Ũ.02.

Yeah, I agree. It's fun to fancy the thought, but I don't think I could actually go through with it.

I know I'd regret it...eventually.

Yeah, I think it is better to hold off on getting a tattoo until 1) the tattoo really means something to you or says something about your core beliefs or 2) you are sure there is a great way to remove it once you get tired of it.

I plan on getting a tattoo once I get either my Private or Commercial lisence, not decided on which though. Probably Private..

Pilot "wings" on my left shoulder, with the date underneath it.

Well, I have one, so I'll throw in my Ũ.02.

First, look for a decent shop. The one I went to uses new needles for every job. I actually watched the guy take them out of the sterile packaging. This is not an activity you want to save บ if it means going to a less than clean environment.

Second, ask to see the artist's work. The guy that did mine had about a hundred photos in his collection. He had even done tattoos on the area I wanted done (take a guess, not a very "normal" tattoo area).

Third, think about it before you get it done. Is it highly visable? Is it something you would want someone to see in a job interview? Is it something you want to explain to your children someday? You may not care about these things now, but you don't want to tell a six year old child, "well, one night before daddy met mommy, he liked a girl named Linda. At the time he liked her so much, he paid a drunk biker to write Linda's name on his chest with needles. Understand dear?"

Finally, I think it should mean something. My tattoo encompasses things that will always be dear to me. I'd also hate to have to explain who "Guns N Roses" are in the year 2030.

What if you got a tattoo of a Butt... on your butt. Then you'd have like two butts.

Huh huh huh uh huhuh

Wait I hear UT calling my name.

No, there's some sort of credentials you can get for tattooing and/or piercing.

A really cool idea: tattoo PI, or atleast the closest rational aproximate.
