my grading service (elion hehe) told me I got a C+ in my physics class! no freakin way! i got 90's on the exams and did all of the homework! and i was counting on getting an A to balance the C I got in my math class (I suck at math exams). I emailed my TA, I sure sure hope it was a mistake on their part (and not some gross mistake on my part!

turned out it wasnt a mistake, however it's still not fair. I missed several homeworks in January due to a family situation, and the TA wouldn't accept them late. Apparantly this hurt my grade that much.

that's ghey, most course I've taken the homework is a rather small fraction of the grade compared to the tests (except for like composition/history where the tests are usually integrated with the homework).

OMG a C AHHH end of thge world people! your like my mate who got all A's apart from ONE B in his gcse's and sent off for a remarking for it. Whats the pass rate for a C there its like what 70% here with like 90% required for an A.
Why do people seem to think a C is bad. You assume you will never make a mistake. welcome to the real world.
Despite all cynacism here (and even if it was a mistake) try to take it with a bit of humility and admit its not the end of the world if you get a medium to high grade on you course.

Only problem is, most scholarships/financial aid seem to think that everyone is capable of getting A's and B's, and that if you get a C you must be a poor student. See, when you start tying the amount of money you receive to your grades, people start to fret every little mistake. It's all part of the grade inflation that has been going on in this country. The premise in the past, like in the 50's and 60's, was that everyone is average and therefore gets a C. In order to get a B or an A you had to distinguish yourself with extra special work. But these days, the attitude is that if you get all the questions right, you get an A. That's why people fret C's. A C in the past ment average. A C today means you just barely passed the class. Once all the people dealing out the money stop expecting the average student to get nothing but A's and B's, then the schools can start giving out the REAL grades without fear of losing both money and students. Until then, C means below average.

I think that tests and exams are how grades should be measured. Any class where the homework is >20% of the grade is put together poorly in my opinion.
