I hope so, because this topic is about earwax. Specifically the pound or so I've removed from my ear in the past 3 days. I went to the doc to see about getting a hearing aid 'cause I could barely hear out of my left ear. He took one look in there and said "it's blocked with wax."

So he washed it out, and got a chunk about as big as the last segment of your pinky finger. Then he saw the eardrum, decided it was infected, and gave me antibiotics... said there was "some" wax left, and to use an over the counter earwax removal kit to get the rest.

So I got that, and I've removed at least as much wax as he did, which means I had a stomach turning amount of wax in there... yech!!! I must have been carrying that shit around for YEARS!!!

But I can hear REALLY WELL now... everything sounds like it's in mega stereo. I keep turning my head to the left to see what "that noise" was - and then I determine it came from directly in front of me :P

You sure you're just appreciating more now how well you could hear before your ear got blocked in the first place ?

I suppose if you're other one has a normal amount of wax in it, and your newly clean one has very little now, than that could be disrupting your HRTFs..

Makes me wonder how much of the stuff i have hanging around in my head...

ahh the memories.

i once had to go to the doctor coz i had an ear infection, so the doc start cleanin my ears out with this metal thing, jiggling it around in my ear, and accidently touched a nerve which knocked me out for around 10 mins.

i was as white as a ghost and stiff as a board.
i remember my dad standing over this small chinese doctor, trying to find out what the hell he did to me
hehehe

i have an ear wax problem, if i dont clean it out semi-regularly it will start to clog....my dad had your problem too, he said the doc pulled black ear wax out...mines always orange unless ive been using something wierd to try to clean it out, like a red pencil, or a black pen....yeah..

not in this case since the gland needed to produce the said wax does not exist.

I assume you meant to put the "not" in there, since your sentance doesn't make sense otherwise...

Of COURSE I'm not saying my hearing improved by being clogged with wax for a couple years! My brain was used to having no signal from the left ear, so it's a little confused right now, and I'm amazed at how much noise there is in the world

neophyre : ear infections SUCK when the doc decides it'll be okay to stick shit in your ear before the antibiotics work. a doctor pressure tested my poor infected ear once upon a time. Why? Because he wanted to make sure the infection hadn't perforated my eardrum. Excuse me, but isn't one of those things you can check on a FOLLOW UP??? I was praying for death for an hour afterwards, and when I wasn't praying I was vomiting. Asshole. I should find him and... nevermind. That's the brain wax talking.

The box says not to use them in your ears. These rules were made for a reason.
