I'm getting really sick of people who claim to be "against authority, yo" or "sooo anti-conformity"....Fuckin' idiots. I don't know about you guys, but I come from a town with a lot of punks. And punks piss me off. Well, mainly teen punks. When punks get older they usually become smarter and stop being idiots, but the teen punks are of the worst variety. They show their hate for conformity by dressing the same, and all wearing the same damned homemade "Smash Fascism!" patch. They show how "intellectual" through the use of bland, unoriginal quotes. And they "express their individuality, maaaannn" by picking a random place on their body (nose, lip, clit, etc...) and sticking a piece of metal in it. Well golll-LY, that's never been done before. And of course, they are all THE expert on punk. Every one of them I know always claims that they're REAL punk, and other punks are just the dreaded POSER. They fail to realize that they are just like preps, they wear the same clothes, they listen to the same bands, they bash the group on the opposite end of the idiot-spectrum as them, and both groups believe themselves to be oh so "anti-authority". I have no problem with being against the mainstream, or anti-conformist, or trying to prove their individuality, but seriously, being punk proves that they're definetely none of the above. Any thoughts?

Ok, I remember when i was in high school, a good 3/4 of the school looked/dressed/acted the same, every morning for trig these 5 or 6 girls would walk in looking exactly the same, the only difference was the color of the sweater tied around their waist. What was really funny was that they all came from different ethnic backgrounds but i couldn't tell them apart, it was really scary some times to be there at 7:30 in the morning and have to face this. Even better were the Mini gangstas, the little white suburbanite white kids who would dress up like their favorite gangsta raper in those 80 dollar shirts and 120 dollar jeans that rode around their ankles, (just like all the gangstas in the hood do, yeah right). They would spout out such hood like phrases like "Yo Yo Yo, lets go back to my crib after school and play on my new playstation, we can get a ride from my brother, daddy just bought him a new car". needless to say, i'm very happy to be very very far away from there.

The unofficial definition of a punk is "someone that can't, or does not want to be defined". If someone claims they are a punk, then it's a sign that they probably aren't. The whole idea of being a punk is being something different that isn't put into a category. If someone categorizes themselves as a punk, then they are probably just a lame ass poser wannabe (or something).I like punk music. I go to punk shows all the time. Would I call myself a punk? Of course not. Would I call my friends who like punk "punks"?? No way. The second anyone starts placing themselves into a class of some sort, they probably aren't. Like when you hear someone say "Yo yo yo, look at me, I'm an OG gansta'", that probably means they are just some lame ass kid from the suburbs who thinks that acting like someone they clearly are not will get them friends and respect. Besides, what the fuck is wrong with anti fascism and racism patches on clothes? My only complaint is that I wish some of the people who wear those would have a little better personal hygiene. But hey, I see lots of rednecks that need to shower more too. -FFox

It's been my experience that real punks don't advertise. Sure, they may have a trenchcoat or some piercings, but those that go overboard and mohawk or spike their hair don't really fit the bill. Hackers are another group like this.
