Has anyone else noticed the quality of rpg games, especially those massive online rpgs, degenerating? I used to play Asheron's Call, but quit because all I seemed to be doing was levelling up. I had Diablo II for all of two weeks, and it starting taking days to get a level up! I miss old school rpgs man, I don't care about 3D, all I want are some nice graphics, good gameplay, and an rpg that'll take you 40 hours to beat. Like FF3! Man, I wish I didn't sell that game. And that's another thing! Games like FF8 boast 40+ hours of gameplay, but that's just because there are so god damn movies and cut scenes! Get rid of these linear, boring, plotless rpgs, and let the user do something again!

My absolute fav rpg is Chrono Trigger. Get Bleem and the PS version, or an SNES Emulator and the ROM (unless you own the SNES and the game) I reccomend the SNES game, because there is no loading time.

Chrono trigger rocks, played it almost to completion on an snes emulator. My all time favorites were the Bard's Tale games for the C-64, they were great.

One of the best RPGs of all time is Alternate Reality: The dungeon, originally programmed for the Atari 800 line of computers. Besides the amazing graphics for a system developed in 1979, the game was amazing. It wasn't a linear story, which is something I don't always want in an RPG - then it's more like an interactive movie or something. You could do what you wanted - the main goal to get out of the dungeon. A very well done RPG, still hoping they'll make a modern PC version.

Damn, almost forgot about my favorite PC RPG, Daggerfall, it was buggy as all hell, but the area you could play in was incredibly huge, with a whole lot of things you could do outside the main quest. mmmm can't wait for the sequel
