I just figured I'd start a topic for people to post their views on this contentious topic.
I am personally for gun control. I think the 2nd Amendment is an outmoded document that, because of its sanctity in the constitution, was too difficult to edit out earlier. Regardless of the purpose of the original law (some say it was strictly for militias, etc), it is entirely possible for it to be removed while not violating the rights of hunters, sharpshooters, and others who enjoy using guns in a safe manner.
While my grandfather was alive, he was an avid coonhunter, and hunted deer with a rifle frequently. My uncle hunts quail and pheasant. My other grandfather, when he was still healthy, hunted deer. My great uncle is a member of the NRA. I am not against hunting, I'm against violent crime. And yes, that is possible, even without the second ammendment.

This belongs in the second amendment topic, not its own new one. You can repost it there.
