I saw this on dvd the other day and hell screw the matrix this one actually has a storyline! If you want any convincing then let me tell you that the crow and this film are made by the same person so you konw it can kick it

For me it's a full time job.
The acting far surpassed anything the matrix had to offer which i suppose is the only real comparison for a film i can come up with at the moment.
You notice how there's almost no moment in the entire film where there isn't some form of ambient music playing. If the matrix was supposed to be a japenese manga comic trasferred to film then dark city was the dark twisted marvel comic. The shots are all comparitable to a comic book with the jhagged angles and almost framed takes.
Plus i think the whole memory implantation effect was genius.

Dark City had amazing style, and Jennifer Connoly is of course a goddess. Kiefer Sutherland is always awesome, and I was extremely impressed with Rufus Sewell; too bad he hasn't landed a single decent role since.
