recently, when I play games in XP, they will just suddenly die and drop to the desktop. no error, no explanation whatsoever. it's total bullshit. what the fuck is causing this?

are they running through dos (is the black screen loading before you get into the game) or is it like a windows screen (similar to starcraft)?

have you tried doing a mass update of all your drivers?
incl. MOBO ones as well?

when all else fails, reformat.
the only time i've had IE freeze up under xp is when it loads a hell of a lot of those damn pop ups...

Is this an update or a clean install?
Driver update first. if that dont work
try "run as" and chose windows 98

hey, im not ig'nant. all my drivers are spankin new. it was originally a clean install. i run homeworld in nt 5 compatibility for open gl anyway. how are these programs related and what causes desktop crashes?

the newest vidio drivers should be opengl compliant for xp...
most xp desktop crashes are caused by the video card driver being moved around in memory.
If you have a 2k driver that the company said is xp compliant there may be a problem.
