so far i've only used EAC to rip cds to wave and winlame to convert them to mp3. it worked great. now i've tried CDex and so far i didn't like it
what are the best programs for cd ripping and converting to mp3?

EAC secure + LAME 2.9x command line version, with vbr preset of your choice

-or-

EAC secure + FLAC (not mp3, but lossless) command line, -n preset of your choice depending on how fast you want your flacs

edit: I prefer to use EACs built-in support for command line encoders, and use its m3u playlist autogeneration and ID3 tagging.
