OK, so I went and password-protected my diary document (long story, don't ask), and now I've forgotten the password!  Aargh!

So anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I could crack my own password?  If you don't wanna post it here, could you at least e-mail me with a solution?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know for sure but since it is a microsoft product it could be a .pwl file located somewhere on you main windows hard disk.

I don't know if this is the case since I have never used a pswd on any of my word docs. but give it a try, open find files and search c: for *.pwl, if it comes up with any that aren't named <yourloggin>.pwl then delete it and it should remove the pswd.

Sorry, no dice--firstly, it's Win2000, and secondly, the file itself is now encrypted, and I have a feeling the password is stored in it somewhere (otherwise, you couldn't move it around without losing password info, which would be a Bad Thing).

Thanks for the suggestion, tho'--any others?

Well, thanks to some search results I found on Google (thx to kornalldaway), I've now found out that my password (which combined letters, numbers, and at least one period) is a "complex" password, and is therefore gonna cost me some $$$ to get it cracked.

Oh, well, I guess it's time to start over.  Sigh.
