Are there any games or alot of games that still have problems running under Win2k? I've been reluctant to upgrade to Win2k cause I have had no real reason to do it, but I have to now for school. Was wondering if I should setup a dual boot.

Some older games need to be ran in win95 compatibility mode it's an option in the properties, I have only come across one game that won't even with that enabled. As for manditory upgrading that is bullshit no one can make you upgrade you might have issues with office2k vs office97 but not with os's.

Yah the upgrading is bullshit. But the Engr College at Virginia Tech requires Win2k. http://www.eng.vt.edu/compreq/

Why would you NEED to upgrade for school?

I have yet to find any game that has any problems under Win2k. It's been out long enough that all the new games are Win2k complient.

I think that's a great shame. See, Windows XP is actually quite good, I think that the nazi-ass tactics they have decided to use may ruin it yet.

XP is hella stable, looks nice and is clearly an improvement. 95 was ok, 98 was pants, 98 SE got good, ME was diabolical, 2000 was good, and XP is best of all.

Hey, they may even be learning.

But lets hope the WPA doesnt ruin it. Hell, theres already a crack to get round it anyways, or you can just use corporate edition anyhow.

hmm.. 20\% done corporate.. btw.. I agree with winXP being a lot better then the previous microsoft .. "OS's". In win2000 a lot of games wouldn't run for me because they lacked DirectX support.. but most of the good ones still ran fine. WinXP all games run fine as if under winME/9x.. only with the stability of win2000. It's all good.
