Well, it seems as if my 3 year old Optijunk Q71 is finally shitting the proverbial bed.

I will probably need a replacement within a few months, what do you think I should get?

Requirements:
17"-19" - I need it about the size of my penis
Flat (CRT, not LCD) - It must also be like my abs
Must last a long time - Similar to myself in bed
Reasonably priced - Like myself. If you ladies want a piece of this ass, I won't charge you an exorbitant amount, so I feel I deserve the same from my monitor.

That about sums it up. I figured I'd throw in a bit of my priceless humor as a reward for you guys helping my lame ass out.

Peace

Get a CRT. They don't look as good sizewise, but an equivalently priced CRT will blow a LCD out of the water. The colours are much better and the images are much more defined. Buy something by Iiyama.

I am using one of these right now (the "Multiscan G200" one). It looks pretty nice, expect there are two horizontal lines running across the screen 1/3 of the way from the top and from the bottom. A friend who has this same monitor also has these lines on it, and apparently they's supposed to be there to "stabilize the picture". I don't know about you, but I don't like that kind of stuff on my monitors...

BTW, I love my (reasonably priced) Philips 109S 19" CRT. It's not flat, but I still love it...

Aperature grille monitors like sony trinitrons use a grid of wires to collimate the beam of electrons. When hit by said beam of electrons the wire heats up and thus expands somewhat. This action causes the wires to vibrate, which wouldn't look too good. These lines are caused by thicker wires that are there to dampen the vibrations of the main mesh wires. I don't mind them (in fact the only time i notice them is when i'm specifically looking for them) and the other advantages of aperature grille monitors over shadow maskers make up for it.

And once you get used to flat screens you don't want to go back. Looking at a flat screen for the first time it looks a bit concave, but you grow out of that, I don't even see the concaveness any more.
