I have an actual copy of office 2000 that I got for free from psu. I installed it on my old computer about a year ago and it was fine. When I installed it and tried to run it again on my new setup, it says the product has already been registered on another computer! I only have a few more runs left before it will stop running at all. How the hell do I get around this? I could just get another copy when I get back to school, possibly even get office XP, but still...this is bs.

This is why you never register ANYTHING, especially MS products.

It's because it was registered online from your old system. Just call up Microsoft and tell them that you upgraded your computer to a new system. A friend of mine did that without any problems when he was in the same situation.

Office 2000? No, it doesn't. Maybe Office XP. I've been running Office 2000 for a while now, and I've never heard of this.

Demonk, is yours a retail box copy or a licensed copy, like the University faculty get here? I think it has to do with one of the initialization files, where there's information as to whether or not it's been properly registered before installing.
