Check this out, I'm going to try it on my hp 8100i burner when I get it back from hp (hardware problems..) You can actually "overclock" your CD-RW if you have the right model. Turn a 2x burner into a 4x, an 8x to a 10x, etc. It's not done by setting the clock speed higher, all you have to do is reflash your firmware with the firmware from a higher/newer model burner! heh check this page out
