Better said, however "short and snippy" is closer to what I was getting at than "bitchy, snotty". I don't really conceive of "kthx" as having a "bitchy" subtext to it. How about "short, snippy, and slightly fruity"?

it's not hard to explain. kthnx is used with a bitchy, snotty, mean tone of voice that is most often used when someone is trying to be dismissive.the nicer, more upbeat, sincere versions are usually along the lines of thx or ta, without a k in front of them. if someone actually says 'ok, thx' they probably really mean it. but if they say kthx, they're being short and snippy. it is just how it sounds, there's no space in between there, giving the impression that it's been said really quick and sharp. ------------------ kuru 'dancing is the vertical expression of horizontal desire.' -robert frost
