hey, ive been having trouble with my computer when im playing music like a wav, mp3, real audio etc..the sound skips in and out when i move my mouse around. its really annoying, ive reinstalled windows and also bought a new sound blaster sound card and it still doesnt work. im really confused as to why this is happening and havent found any help so maybe one of you guys has a theory to why my computer is so gay.

can be some sort of a conflict between your mouse and a sound card

same problems here m8. didnt happen in win98 started to happend in 98se.

for me i think the suspect was the partitioning of my hardrive. i think it caused some bottleneck with my soundcard or something. still havent fixed it fully but i dont really mind that much you get used to it

Using WDM sound drivers on slower computers could cause those problems because the video card (using a custom pointer?) is competing with the sound card for PCI bus bandwidth.

What do you use to play MP3's?

If it's winamp, go into the properties and change the output filters and the amount of cache that they use.

As for the others, or suspected conflict with mouse and soundcard, could you tell us about your setup?

i reinstalled everything and updated drivers and what not and for the moment everything seems to be working fine under winamp but windows media player still skips around. but im fine for right now

same thing happened to me ever since i installed a 2nd hard drive and moved all my mp3's onto that.

but it only happens when the system is busy opening another program on either disk

heh...reading from a second harddrive is like reading off a cd...but slower.. it's not in that harddrive's cache for the most part so its hella slow reading.

windows media player is a ram hog. m$
