I've never had much use for headphones, but next weekend I'll be attending the The 4th Anniversary CPL Counter-Strike Tournament in Dallas.

It's BYOC (bring your own computer), and one of the rules is that you can't use speakers, has to be either headphones or no sound at all.

I know I can just go buy some crappy 2.00 headphones and be all right, but if I'm already spending the money, I'd like to get the most bang for my buck.

Any recomendations???!?!?!?!

I happen to have a pair of these that I enjoy very much (Sennheiser HD 575):

With oxygen-free copper cable:

Padding. No plastic shit to get sticky and uncomfortable:

Headphones seem to be a pretty hot topic for some people, so I'm sure there will be other suggestions on how to spend the 100 bucks, but I've gotten good use out of these. They are designed specifically to let you hear ambient noise, though, which is nice if you hate having to take off your 'phones to hear what people are saying, but on an airplane, they're basically useless.

Ok... A hundred bucks falls on the expensive end for a pair of headphones that I'll ONLY be using during Counter-Strike tournaments.

I'm looking at a peak price of โ bucks...

But yes, those look pretty cool.

if i was going to spend 贄 bucks on headphones i'd get the sony v-6's which are cheaper and better then the older sennheiser models. the bass is amazing you can actually feel it! they block outside noise very very effectively and are totally isolated (other people can't hear them).

for โ i'd get the grado sr-60's although i've heard they are uncomfortable you can get replacement pads for cheap. they are great sounding for the price.

for under โ get koss ur-20's or 30's which you can buy in record stores for around ฮ or so. they are probably the lowest end decent headphones you can buy without resorting to crap

hey cr0, how well do your sennheisers drive? i've heard that you need a headphone amp to get them to decent volume levels, but that maybe for the new models.
