Okay, here I go with the setting up.
I have an old emachine. 400mhz proccessor. 4 gig hard drive, 96Mb Ram, CD-rom floppy...and is going to be connected to a cable internet connection (that'll be a few days) I seem to have Mandrake Linux running K desktop Enviroment 2.2.1
I want to make it into a web server (those of you may have remembered my previous post on the subject)
Should I get apache software for it? Or what?

Yeah, apaches not too hard to set up. Remember with cable you usually have a low upstream so be careful not to hose your connection.
Any specific problems feel free to ask.

I do not feel like learning a new operating system, especially a cracker ass one.
I will stick with the M$ crap cause I know how to use it. When I get more advanced I may switch to linux or BSD or some shit...but now Windows..okay?

Install PWS on 98 and be done with it. Didn't I say that like 2 weeks ago? Are you more conserned right now with developing a site or building a kick-ass webserver? I would start with the front-end (make a cool website) and then develop the backend (more robust server) as you hit limitations with your site.

Doesn't PWS top out at, like 18 simultaneous connections? Not that JTG will probably hit that, but I'm just trying to remember.
JTG, are you trying to make a website for external viewing? Make sure that your server's IP is DNS routable. My cable ISP just went to an internal 10., which means even if I set one up, noone outsed of the cable company's network would be able to browse it.

I know you said that two weeks ago, but I forget things. Also, I was just restarting it as a topic of helping me set one up, and dropping the stuff about where I could host a web site for cheap/free.
My plan is to take my current site (www.geocities.com/joelthegreat) and bring it into my webserver. then I am going to update and update the shit out of my site.
At least I want to make it so I can at least host files like peanut butter jelly time on my computer at home where I don't have bandwidth restrictions so when I link it on say a forum, geocities doesn't stop my site for exceeding the bandwidth.
How do I check my IP to see if it is DNS routable?

I checked for you. It's routable, but do you know if it is static (unchanging) or dynamic (will change)? You can ask your cable provider this one.
