I want to set up a device so that the instant my room mate opens the door, my puter will minimize all windows. I've been caught looking at porn a couple times...really embarresing (especially since he doesn't watch porn). I don't jack off at my computer though...way to risky. Well anyway, how could I do this?

He doesn't watch porn? How fucked up is that?

I dunno, make a hotkey to minimize all windows, or jump to screensaver or black the screen.

Not that I know HOW to do any of these things.

ok, get watchcat @ tucows. you can bind certain key strokes to certain things, like hide window, hide all windows, invert hidden/shown, etc. it has a whole bunch of other stuff, and its gpl. now i assume you could rig a little device that say sends a signal through the serial port when a sensor is tripped. have a c++ prog or something detect that and emulate the keystroke. there ya go.

oh thats what that meant. cool. the problem is im usually too involved to notice him coming in the door until he's already coming in and sitting down, by that point its too late. oh, if i have the window open, then the air pressure change blows the curtain around like crazy, but it also scares the shit outta me. its very dissatisfying watcing pr0n while being this paranoid.

Turn the computer! Claim it's so you can look at someone and hold a conversation while you're on the computer and they're not.
