Well... my first system was the NES, so naturally my first mag was Nintendo Power. I've been a subscriber since issue #1. I've gotten a few GamePros (which SUCKED) and EGMs (which were cool) on the side. I've pretty much been an N man with the SNES and N64 (although I've also had Nomad and Jaguar), so I've just stuck with NP through the good and bad times.Anyway... N64 has just been dying this year and since GameCube is so hush-hush, Nintendo Power feels like one big 100 page advertisment. And now that GameBoy Advance has it's own magazine...a 200 page advertisment. All the reviews are really biased. I'm not sure about PSM or X-Mag... but they must be a little hypy too... Soooo... to fill this void of good gamming litterature, I've been buying buy some general gamming mags. I've also been undecided as to which of the the new systems I'm going with, so I wanted to get as much 3rd party info as I could. NextGen - I REALLY like this mag! It's adult oriented and has a lot of good news leads. The reviews are decent. And I still don't know why people didn't like DailyRadar... GamePro - STILL SUCK! EGM - Hsu & Chan 0wnz! The reviews are good and very trustable! They give the good and bad side of everthing. The previews are pretty good and they had the best coverage of E3 of any magazine. ExpertGamer - Well... I don't like players guides... so I don't like this magizine since it switched from EGM2. IGN (online) - Lots of good media! VideoGames.com - Got bought by ZD... BOOOO! Now to the point! I've done a lot of carful consideration: I've been hard on PS2... but they're doing better with the 3rd wave of games. I've been in support of XBox... but I must say they TOTALLY turned me off with their performance at E3! BOOOOO!! They promised good stuff... and they sucked!! Even with my faithful Nintendo record, I really didn't think the GameCube looked all that great. I wasn't even reallying factoring it it. But they BLEW ME AWAY AT E3!!! WOW!! Talk about ace up their sleeve... These guys are going to save the industry once again!! So I don't remember what why I originally started typing all this... I've been rambling. So just talk about mags and systmes or something. ------------------ "Thank you, God, for giving us leotards." -Koichi -PersonGuy

My PS2 contains much 0wnage. If you don't believe me check out some of the movies at IGN for GT3. I can't quite believe them myself. Let's see, real time reflections/shadows, perfectly simulated physics (of course), perfectly rendered dust and haze, the cars are so detailed that they showed a picture that zoomed up to the bumper of a car and it was a tag with little stuff written on it, and you could read that, lemme see.. when I watched the movies I noticed that the wheels where moving independently of the car (as in very well simulated suspension), and the car was shaking over bumps. Every car has it's own engine sounds and takes 2 weeks to model. Did I mention that it will 0wn? ::dr00l:: Also FFX is going to 0wn, as will Metal Gear 2. Umm... don't know why I typed this either...

i havent seen any recent stuff about the systems, and im too lazy to look now. but as for my opinion on this current (what is it, 4th generation gaming consoles?) generation of gaming, here it is.sega dreamcast - the only game i played on this system that i was truly impressed with was soul calibur. however, i think that was mostly because it looked so awesome and so smooth, and the shock is what really got me hooked. in retrospect, its not that great, and its kind of sad. i have always been an avid sega supporter, because they used to put out high quality products, and have decent quality control. they were often first to the scene (im pretty sure that the master system predates NES). i have a whole lot of master system games that were awesome, same with game gear, and genesis. i was never able to afford a saturn or any of the cool addons for the genesis, so i cant say about that. dreamcast was debuted too early. they should have put more work into it, gotten better developers, and other such stuff. but it was really pulled out half assed, and thats why its failed now. sega is going to go under now, because their third party games blow. theyre going the way of atari (jaguar...*shudder*). nintendo - im not a fan personally. their stuff just doesnt appeal to me. nothing they had exclusively ever really hooked me in. and im not unfairly biased, ive played just as much nintendo stuff as sega probably. n64 to me was one of the worst systems ever. all the games on it, i dont know quite how to describe it, but i kind of felt lost in them, but not in a good way. like mario 64, it was too big. the only games i can look back on for nintendo systems and say that i really liked them were mario kart 64, and maybe zelda: ocarina of time. sony - ive always been a big supporter of sony, even before they made games (haha, i just love sony quality). i have a playstation, and a lot of my favorite games are on it. i must have logged so many hours of time on coolboarders 2, well, it was a lot of fun. and they had some games that really blew, but so many that were really good. and theyve improved more, the ps2 is great (i have a friend who has one) everything looks really good, and a lot of the games are really fun. microsoft - the xbox is gonna suck. i predict this based solely on that it has an 8gb hard drive on it, and that ive seen enough of microsofts products to know how they work. they say the hard drive will be used to download demos and mods and such, and it very well may be. but yknow what else will be on it? windows. in some form or another, theyre gonna put windows on it. and then yknow what windows needs? thats right boys and girls, UPDATES! yes, you just bought that awesome game, and you want to play, oh no. you have to download an update first. thats ok. when a console has an internal hard drive that reaches the GB, its not a console anymore, because the very embodyment of consoles is the idea that every single one operates the same way, and that its plug and play at its best. plug it in and it works. whens the last time you had that happen with a MS product? anyway, thats my whole take, feel free to comment and whatnot. ------------------ quote: Originally posted by Dark Knight Bob: does anyone not notcie that sithee isnt actually talking out of his ass like a lot of people here

I've gone through a NES, SNES, PSX, Saturn, N64, and am currently using a DC and likely will be for awhile. IMO Soul Caliber sux0r3d (don't hit me - I just don't like fighting games) and while graphically impressive for that time will be badly 0wn3d by a game with better GFX & gameplay (see Jet Grind Radio, PSO, MDK2)Maybe I'll buy a PS2 after the price cut reaches here... then again I may just rent one and MGS2, play the shit outta that game (BTW, I've got an über-schweet DivX trailer of MGS2 @ 720x480) and then that's it... there's way better DVD players than a PS2. Oh yes - here's all the GameCube information you'll need. (Edit - /me hates UBB code sometimes.) ------------------ 1.2 GHz Athlon + FIC AD11 + 400W ATX = 跊 512MB Crucial PC2100 = 贄 0wning more 0wnage than anything has ever 0wned before = priceless.
