Here we go again, cept this time i'm not talking abotu subwoofers

ok heres the deal, in my car i have 4" speakers in the front, and 6"'s in the back shelf. what i want to do is get really good speakers btu not modify my car at all, so get like the absolute top of the line, or close to, 4" and 6" speakers, with an amp that will suffice

so i went looking on the net, and found what looked to be exactly what i was looking for, 150W 2way 4" kenwoods (30WRMS i think), and 200W 3way 6" kenwood (50WRMS), and for a reasonable price too.

i then went to a car audio shop and had a long chat with a guy there, who said that 6" 3ways were practically a waste of money over 2way's, and he recommended this set of 120W (30 RMS) 6"'s and 60W (15 RMS) 4inchers. with a 90W 2 channel amp.

the speakers he reccommended to me were all less than what i had walked in there expecting to pay, so that makes me think that the guy i spoke to knows what he was talking about, if he was actually trying to sell me DOWN

basically what i want is to be able to have REALLY FUCKING LOUD music in my car, and still have it clear and not fucked up. disregarding bass (i'll get subs to do that) i just want really high quality, loud music. is the combo i was reccommended a good one do you think? as usual, any advice is more than appreciated

btw running off a 4x45W Clarion deck

first of all, for clean and loud sound, you will need a good amp. running it off the cd player amp won't sound all that good (i.e. not much better then stock). second of all, to get good sound out of 4"ers in the front and 6"ers in the back, you will want to get very very efficient 2 way 4"ers in the front, and probably 1 way (if you aren't getting a sub) or 2 way (if you are) 6"ers in the back. the speakers you described as getting don't sound all that powerful. infact they look about the same as mine. mine sound like crap, and i wish i didn't waste my money on them. they will sound good, but not at high volumes.

I agree with CatKnight in that the speakers they recommended seem have VERY low power handling capacity. I have a pair of 200W 6” speakers in my car and they defiantly DON’T impress me at all. From your previous posts I gather that you want a NICE system in your car; I would suggest speakers with a little more power.

BTW, I used to work in sales and if I thought that the customer wasn’t interested or couldn’t afford the system that I WANTED to sell them I wold talk them down to something that was a sure buy. I absolutely HATED myself for doing shit like that, but the store I worked for (Sears) didn’t give me any choice (if I wanted to make more then Ů.00 per hour,) that's the reason I quit working there. The point I am trying to make is DON’T TRUST SALESPEOPLE, regardless of what they are trying to sell you.

CatKnight is correct IMHO. The amp is more important than the speakers in this case. PLEASE dont run off deck power, thats a sin!

I would spend some bucks and get a good 4 channel MTX amp, RockfordFosgate,or Infinity or something, and then get some descent speakers.
I wouldn't consider Kenwood descent either

Infinity Kappas are great speakers, the Kenwood excelons are good, and there are many others.

You pretty much get what you pay for, you know? How much do you have to spend?

200W 6"ers dont impress you? fuck man then what would you recommend??

i am willing to spend quite a bit, if i know they will last me for a long time and i wont be dissatisfied with them you know?

i dont know what the price difference between speakers in the US and in Australia are, but i would probably be looking at spending around 軸-700 (800 MAX) on speakers + amp. remember the au dollar is worth half of the us dollar so in your terms im looking at 跌-350, 400 max

can i get something really fucken decent with that amount of money?

I should elaborate: 200W PEAK, the speakers are generic brand and (probably) have a LOW RMS ( I would guess about 35W). They’re not bad, but I can’t max my CD player without them going to crap. I don’t even have an amp and they can’t handle the power I am supplying them. I spent all my car system money on a very nice sub setup, and now that is the only part of my system I can hear. I haven’t done any research, so I can’t recommend a specific brand, but I so recommend getting something with a little more power.
