Ok, you gotta streamline that client a bit. It took forever and a day to load up and didn't connect. I tried a web-based irc client that I have on one of my servers and it didn't connect either. www.cbk.net select the irc tab to try the connection yourself. Look in your server logs to see if you can see the attempts, if not make sure you have a good route going in to your server from the public internet. A lot of tests work internally in the lab but not from the public internet because people don't account for the Firewall/NAT/Proxy that public users need to go through to get to your machine. Also check the name resolves to the correct IP. I set up an IRC server once before, but it got taken apart when the boss found it I still have my ILS server and email server though. Good Luck with everything.

Sorry, all I had to test it with was the java client that didn't work. I tweaked the firewall a bit because some aplets freak it out, and it still didn't work. Possibly because our firewall connects to another firewall which conects to another firewall. I'll tweak around with it a bit until I get a call from security. They get all uptight when I screw with the firewalls. What's up with that?

I got busted in about 10 minutes <security>Did you just open a telnet session to the firewall? <me>Um ...kinda <security>#!*\%$ No more screwing with the security on this network for a bit. (I do have access to the firewall, I'm just not supposed to make undocumented changes) People are so paranoid about such things. How much security does 蹢 billion need, right? I do want to get IRC running on my desk though ...then I can waste all sorts of time. All the people in school ...stay there, don't get a real job. You can't sleep in & you can't nap at your desk. What the hell? What does corprate America have against sleeping?
