As I was setting up another BSD box at work the other day, and proceeded to config it via telnet, I thought to myself is thier any usefull applications that can be executed from a Microsoft Telnet service? I mean what the hell is the point to telneting into a windows box? Anyone know?

Strange huh! The telnet service is a part of win2k and now XP, but why the hell is it there? There is already terminal services and ftp server so that takes care of any remote admin I can thin of, and besides moving around files; I dont know what else can be accomplished via telneting to a windows box. But it has to be there for a reason!!!!!!!!

I use the telnet service on my Win2K server to display random quotes.

...I didn't say it was a good use of the service, but it is a use.
