Worth ~400 clams? Any other suggestions in that range? My bro has one of these, and is pretty happy with it; I really like the limited video capability and good dual zooms.

that is an ugly camera too.
the flash is next to the lense-axis and most likely will produce red-eye unless it has a red-eye reduction flash setup. Which will use up the batteries at an amazing rate. are the batteries proprietary???
Aside from the previous, Nikons are usually quite proficient.
/edit Make sure you get lots of extra memory; those cards they ship with are fer shit. (both cameras)

I'm in the sort of market for a digi-camera too. I'm sort of waiting for the bling-bling to come along, but still... My dad is very happy with his Olympus that he has. It's a 1.2MP, but it's good enough for him. I'll probably go along the same lines. I want a digi-cam that feels like a regular cam... be it SLR, or point-and-shoot style, I want something that feels like the old-school version of cameras.
It'll be a little while...

I've got the Olly D100, 1.3 MB. It does ok, but the comparable Kodaks have a nicer image. The D100 outputs about 800kb, too small for 8x10. The 8mb card is criminally small. 64 should be more than enough. It *requires* at least 2 sets of Nickel Hydride batteries, they go dead after about 20 minutes of hard use. Picture quality actually seems better at medium resolution than the pixelation/noise of hi-rez. The LCD panel on the back works surprisingly well!
The chief advantage is that it will fit in a pocket and you get many more shots than you would with a bigger one that stays at home.
AH, if you like, I can email you a couple samples...
