Thought I could shed some light on the matter.
cr0bar was originally not much of a forums participant. He would poke his head in, and usually read most of what happened in the forums, but seeing a post from him was sort of a rare thing. He also chose not to interfere with the forums - did basically no moderation, and just responded passively to some requests for new forums, etc.
as far as how syf0n was seen in anyone else's eyes, well, i can't honestly say. syf0n originally decided he wanted to start the site bastardize.net. this was in the day when cr0bar hung out in #detnet, and i did as well. syf0n wanted help and whatnot, and cr0bar wasn't entirely forthcoming (i cannot blame him, he didn't mean to be an ass but he doesn't have time to start a website for someone else).
syf0n did all kinds of things i thought were funky... like suggesting that detnet be a site "under" bastardize, and making bastardize a site that had very little content itself and just linked to detonate... saying "bastardize is a member of the detonate network", etc. cr0bar really didn't mind... but he found syf0n to be annoying, and didn't particularly enjoy talking to him.
cr0bar and i started developing bithive. it was highly secret. syf0n somehow got ahold of a piece of concept art (probably porn_dealer's fault) and was asking interface questions... that led me to be a bit suspicious. syf0n weaved this big tale of how he hacked jason and what not... i, being a very close friend of jason, was obliged to tell him. cr0bar again had a reason not to talk to syf0n.
syf0n somehow got ahold of a picture of cr0bar from his youth, and with a bit of photoshop cranked out a slightly offensive picture that featured jason as a "homeless" child. syf0n also decided to start making fun of jason for smoking weed (which i still think is the dumbest thing ever... i smoke weed too, it's our damn business what we do).
i went to new orleans on a trip to see a relative get married, and happen to spend the night out cruising around with syf0n and his friends. don't get me wrong, syf0n is my friend, and i like to think that he is mine. we rode around in his jeep and whatnot... went to blockbuster with some of his friends and went looking for a movie.
we happened to come across a case to some dumb movie with some asian guy surfing, and syf0n laughed about how that looked like jason. so i get back to plano, and syf0n decides to take that movie cover and make another mildly insulting image.
cr0bar gets pissed and bans syf0n from the forums.
months go by where syf0n goes through all kinds of phases.
now here we are. let me set the record straight.
i am a very, very good friend of jason meinzer aka cr0bar. sometimes we talk on the phone on a nightly basis for hours at a time. i've been in his dorm room, bought him a pack of turkish golds after we walked up to safeway. jason meinzer is a certified badass. i would semi-cautiously venture that jason is perhaps my best friend, sad as it may be that he is on the other side of the states.
i consider richard aka syf0n to be a good person. he has even been graphic designer for boomgames for a while. the real "richard thompson" is a lot like me in some ways, and he's a pretty funny/nice guy. "syf0n", the internet persona, is very different than richard thompson. i will say publicly that i think richard has his head in the clouds a bit, but i don't mean that to be offensive at all. syf0n is also a good friend of mine. i have seen him in person, even left a bag of wendys rubbish on his friend's front porch in a moment of impromptu humor.
cr0bar doesn't exactly hate syf0n's guts, but he isn't bursting with love either.
oh, and i should mention that i am also friends with porn_dealer aka david, although i have never seen him in person. perhaps i will some day.

Being, dare I say, good friends with Richard, cr0bar, and Chase, I agree with what Chase has said regarding Richard. He might be a little full of himself at times, and causing trouble seems to be his second job, but at heart he's a nice guy, and having talked to him for countless hours on the phone for the past year, and on AIM, e-mail, etc., I don't understand why people (other than cr0bar of course) are pissed off at him. Then again, he never flamed me, but flaming is a big part of these forums, and he just made it interesting. I'd hate to see the members of the detnet forums duke it out on Springer, cause there wouldn't be enough damn chairs to throw.

I've had the pleasure of talking to Richard, he seems like a pretty nice guy to me personally. As for my previous flaming of him? Well, let's say I was flaming his persona 
Oh, yes and I'm not good friends with any of these people, unfortunatly never talked with Jason, Chase, or porn_dealer, but I've been around through most of that, just... you know... 14...
...what a waste of two years of my life this place is...

Also, while we're on the subject of tact and grace, let's not forget how you were chucking ice cubes from that Wendy's we stopped by directly at other moving vehicles. Or how you left your Wendy's rubbish on the front step of my best friends' house, which then became covered in ants -- causing them to ban you from their house, and causing me a great deal of embarassment in front of them and their parents.
Also, for the record, I never wanted or told Jason to run his ste "under" mine. That's a load of crap, and I'm wondering where the hell it came from.
The bottom line is that I've been nothing but nice to you, Chase, and I consider topics like this, as well as some of the stuff you've done in the past, to be a complete stab in the back.
Call me when you get the chance, we might need to talk...if you actually value me as a friend.

Hmm. Gotta disagree there. I wouldn't like to make many people not exist, they enrich your life, give you experiences, blah de blah. While syf0n ain't everyones favourite person, I think that everyone should get a second chance. And if Chase and Richard got issues, they should smoke a blunt and make up. Sorry did I say smoke a blunt I meant drink a beer. 
There's nobody I can outright say I disrespect on the forums; everyone here has something to give to everyone else. We just all need to be nice to each other.

I respect cr0 for his webmastering/programming and graphic design skills. and his straight up, no politics attitude. Although his ego is a bit big.
I respect Chase for his programming skills
I think syphon needs to find a personality and stick with it.
BUT if he didn't rip off all of his art on his site (I remember him plagerizing SA a few months ago...) then I respect his graphic design skills.
mind you, this is all from impressions gleaned from the internet, i've never met anyone in real life. Not even Rhydant, though he lives 15 mins away.

what the hell is wrong with throwing things from a moving vehicle at other moving vehicles? Last night, after our visit to hooters for new years (the place is great, but I felt like such a sexist...), me and some friends stopped by blockbuster to pick up GTA3 (holy shit this game kicks ass), and we stole all the AOL cd's at the counter. On our way to one of the guy's houses, we were throwing them at road signs, cars, trees, etc... it was awsome.
